Grave Dweller. The Anthropophagus' Claw attacks can inflict Touch of the Grave. Due to their habitat, the claws of this monstrosity carry all manner of bacteria and those who contract Touch of the Grave take 1d4-1 (minimum of 1) necrotic damage at the start of each turn and have the poisoned condition. Any amount of supernatural healing alleviates the effect.
Monstrous Build. The Anthropophagus counts as one size larger when determining drag and lift capacity.
Multiattack. The Anthropophagus makes two Claw attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 13 (3d6 + 3) [slashing] damage. A target hit with this attack must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution Saving Throw or be afflicted by Touch of the Grave.
Drag Down: While the Anthropophagus is burrowed directly beneath a target standing above it, it can reach up and grab the creature (using 1 claw attack) by the spine (assuming it has one), dragging it down and dealing 3d6 piercing damage and 3d6 slashing damage. The Anthropophagus has Advantage on this attack if it cannot be seen.
Unnatural Speed: The Anthropophagus moves up to it's Speed toward a hostile creature it can see.
Adept Burrower: As a reaction, when the Anthropophagus takes more than 10 damage from a single attack, it can burrow 5 ft straight down and then 25 ft in any direction. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Description
Description: Vaguely humanoid, the adult Anthropophagus stands between seven and nine feet tall. Their abnormally long arms start at the shoulder like humanoids but where the neck and head would be there is nothing. Rather, the eyes are in the shoulders and the mouth, with many rows of sharp teeth, is located where a stomach would normally be. Usually a shade of brown, these mammals (if you can call them that) have short hair all over their bodies. Their exceptionally muscular appendages make combating one a dangerous notion and their digitigrade legs make outrunning them nigh impossible.
Behavior: The adult male Anthropophagus is a savage, social predator. Reclusive by nature, they aren't usually found far from their burrows which can normally be found near graveyards and cemeteries. The adult female, or Matriarch, is very rare and therefore a given pack will only have one. They are generally bigger, stronger, and more intelligent than their male counterparts. The Matriarch relies on the male for reproduction as, biologically, the area where a womb would be is taken by a more vital organ, the brain.
Reproduction: The adult male Anthropophagus mates with the Matriarch of the pack and she implants him with the egg sack. He then has two weeks to find a suitable corpse to deposit it in. After the two weeks have passed, the cub will birth itself and either the adult or the cub will perish. If a suitable gestational corpse is found, the cub will incubate for two weeks before devouring the host. In rare cases, the egg sack can be implanted in a living host but this is extremely painful for the host and they rarely survive the incubation period.
