Traits

Keen Hearing and Smell. The Blink-phaser-beast has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Avoidance. If the Blink-phaser-beast is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.

Displacement. The Blink-phaser-beast projects a magical illusion that makes it appear to be standing near its actual location, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn. This trait is also disrupted while the Blink-phaser-beast is incapacitated or has a speed of 0.

Actions

Multiattack. The Blink-phase-beast beast makes two attacks with its tentacles, and one with its bite.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (1d12 + 4) piercing damage.

Teleport (Recharge 4–6). The Blink-phaser-beast magically teleports, along with any equipment it is wearing or carrying, up to 40 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. Before or after teleporting, the Blink-phaser-beast can make one bite attack. A target grappled by the beast is teleported to a space within 5ft of the beast's location and remains grappled. If no space within 5ft of the beast is available, the creature is shunted back to its original location and takes 3(1d6) force damage.

Description

Mage-bred by House Vadalis, the Blink-phaser-beast (sometimes referred to as 'Trackers' by those in the house) are beasts bred for hunting dangerous game. They require a firm hand to control, but once tamed retain all the ferocity of a Displacer Beast and all the Loyalty of a Blink Dog. Aside from Displacer beasts and Blink dogs, these beasts have traits from other creatures mixed in as well, though often less prevalent. Its tentacles end in serrated bone spurs, its ears are long and knife-like. It has four legs; the front pair each ending in a split that almost gives the appearance of having six legs (similar to the displacer beast). It often has a sleek, black coat, and a long tail ending in a wisp of hair. It has catlike eyes set in a doglike face.
