False Appearance. While the wisteria remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal plant.
Regeneration. The wisteria regains 20 Hit Points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 Hit Point. If it takes Radiant or Fire damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of its next turn.
Multiattack. The wisteria makes two Vine and one Bite attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d12 + 5) Piercing damage. If the target is Grappled by the wisteria, it takes an additional 22 (5d8) Necrotic damage and cannot regain Hit Points for 1 minute. A humanoid slain in this way, immediately revives as a Vampire Spawn under the wisteria’s control
Vine. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 35 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) Bludgeoning damage. Instead of dealing damage, the wisteria can Grapple the target (escape DC 18). The wisteria can have up to 4 creatures Grappled this way.
Description
Vampiric Wisteria is a carnivorous plant with purple petals atop their and tiny orange hairs all over their body. The flowers hide massive teeth and a powerful jaw. Several thick vines allow them to restrain their prey and even freely move about the forest and replant themselves when food gets scarce.
As the pseudo-undead king of the plant world, the Vampiric Wisteria have several powerful abilities and subsequent drawbacks reminiscent of their namesake. Their bite curses their foe to a slow death, potentially even turning them into undead thralls who carry out their will—typically luring in more prey. Even without their prey’s life force, they quickly heal from most wounds; however, fire and even the light that nourishes their fellow plants render them weak. Perhaps their greatest strength is their ability to blend in with other foliage, allowing them to ambush their prey.
Their species is, fortunately, quite rare as their feeding habits can wreak havoc on the local wildlife by creating Vampire Spawn that running amok. This likely stems from their unknown method of reproduction. Early rumor speculate that they were born when a vampire attempted to go vegan and their food gained sentience, while others believe the wisteria grew from soil fertilized with the blood or bodies of the undead. Regardless, they do not seem to produce seeds, pollen, or other typical methods of plant reproduction, though their propensity for eating bees may be partly to blame.
