Abominable Aura

Any creature hostile to the Fruegal that starts its turn within 10 feet of the Fruegal must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw, unless the Fruegal is incapacitated. On a failed save, the creature is frightened until the start of its next turn.

Slaver

Fruegal has advantage on attack rolls against any enemy grappled by it. Creatures grappled by Fruegal must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or automatically fail any other check to end the grapple.

Dark Signature

A fail safe installed by the creating witch; a device plays a short song sounding like a music box then causes the following effect.

When Fruegal dies, it explodes, and each creature within 30 feet of it must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion ignites flammable objects in that area that aren't being worn or carried, and it destroys Fruegal's equipment.

Actions

Multiattack

Fruegal makes two melee attacks: one with its bone maul and one with its whip.

Bone Maul

Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8+5) bludgeoning damage plus 3 (1d6) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Whip of the Oppressor

Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6+5) slashing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be grappled.

Magic Missile

Only available when Mythic Action Eye Stocks is activated. Fruegal creates four glowing darts of magical force. Each dart hits a creature of its choice that it can see within range. A dart deals 1d6 +4 force damage to its target. The darts all strike simultaneously, and you can direct them to hit one creature or several.

Bonus Actions

Gorge.  Fruegal may consume any organic material (excluding living creatures) within 10 ft and restore 1d6 hit points

Reactions

Taunt. As a reaction, Fruegal may taunt a player or creature that took any action. The player or creature must succeed a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or roll their next attack roll or skill check with disadvantage.

Sadistic Spectator: When Fruegal witness a successful attack by any creature it may gain half of the damage dealt rounded down as temporary HP.

Mythic Actions

Fruegal's mythic trait activates the eye of an incubating beholder growing within its massive gut. When it is reduced to 80hp or less it can use one of the options below as a legendary action once per round.

Stunning Gaze: When a creature that can see Fruegal’s central eye starts its turn within 60 feet of the monster, the monster can force it to make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw if the monster isn’t incapacitated and can see the creature. A creature that fails the save is stunned until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the monster in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.

Evil Eye: Fruegal magically forces a creature it can see within 60 feet of it to make a DC 14 Charisma saving throw. The creature takes 27 (6d8) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Eye Stocks: Reveal 4 eye stocks protruding from Fruegal's back. This mythic action grants Fruegal the ability to use his Magic Missle action, Fruegal may use this action immediately when taking this mythic action.

Description

A monstrosity created by a dark witch, by incubating a beholder inside of a magically altered Orc. Fruegal is a cruel glutton who acts as the warden of a massive prison colony,  where inmates fear their cruel master and his ravenous appetites.  He is known for his monstrous visage and insatiable appetite as well as his menagerie of large and deadly creatures whom he abuses for his amusement, often holding gladiatorial events in which he pits inmates against his fell collection of creatures. When not exercising his wrath as a terrible warden, he is used as a tank in frontline battles to demoralize and ravage those who dissent against the will of his masters.

Lair and Lair Actions

EITHER The prison colony it presides over OR a war camp.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Fruegal takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Fruegal can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Reckless Gluttony: Fruegal can target up to two creatures it can see within 10 feet of it that is friendly, or has 0 hit points and is still alive. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be consumed (die). If the target is consumed, the recipient regains 10 (3d6) hit points per creature consumed.
  • Cruel Collector: Fruegal may target a creature that has less than its maximum hit points, that creature must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be effected by the Dominate Beast spell. This legendary action removes the concentration requirement from Dominate Beast when used.
  • Warden's Alarm: Fruegal calls out and may summon 1d6 Goblins to his aid.
  • Beast Beaconing: Fruegal may use this ability only once per day, summon 1d4 creatures to his aid, using a d6 to determine the creature(s) from the list below.

  2. Carrion Crawler
