Traits

Reckless

At the start of his turn, Blight can gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls during that turn.

Attack rolls against him have advantage until the start of his next turn.

Opportunity Attack

Blight can make an opportunity attack when a creature he can see leaves his reach using its action, bonus action, reaction, or movement speed.

The attack occurs immediately before the creature leaves his reach and uses a melee weapon or unarmed strike.

Cleave (Greataxe)

Once per turn, when Blight hits a creature with a melee attack using his Greataxe, he can make another melee attack against a second creature within 5 feet of the first target that is also within reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the same damage as the original attack.

Stormra's Head (Spell/Passive Trait)

Blight can capture some incoming energy from an attack, lessening its effect and storing it for his next melee attack.

Resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of his next turn.

The first time Blight hits with a melee attack on his next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type.

This spell is instantaneous and ends after the melee attack.

Hellfire Charge / Infernal Retaliation (Passive Trait)

Whenever Blight is hit by a ranged attack (weapon, spell, or magical projectile), he gains 1 Hellfire Charge.

Each Hellfire Charge reduces the remaining cooldown of Hellrend Cataclysm by 1 turn.

Maximum 3 Hellfire Charges can be stored.

All charges are consumed when Hellrend Cataclysm is used.

Artifact Tempus Machina (Passive / Bonus Action)

Blight wields a powerful artifact that distorts time.

When Blight drops below half hit points, the artifact triggers Time Stop as a bonus action.

Other abilities of the artifact are yet to be discovered.

Rage Shout (Spell-Like Trait)

Blight can hurl a mote of fire at a creature or object within range.

Make a ranged spell attack, DC 17.

On a hit, target takes 4d10 fire damage.

A flammable object not worn or carried ignites.

Actions

Greataxe

Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.

Hit: 9 (1d12 + 3) slashing damage.

Cleave (Greataxe)

Once per turn, when Blight hits a creature with a melee attack using his Greataxe, he can make another melee attack against a second creature within 5 ft. of the first target that is within reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the same damage as the original attack.

Rage Shout (Spell-Like Attack)

Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 60 ft., one target.

Hit: 22 (4d10) fire damage.

Flammable objects that aren’t worn or carried ignite.

Stormra’s Head (Reactive Melee Boost – Instantaneous)

When triggered by an incoming attack, Blight gains resistance to that damage type until the start of his next turn.

The first time Blight hits with a melee attack on his next turn, he deals an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type.

Hellrend Cataclysm (Legendary/Ultimate Weapon)

Action Type: Full Action

Recharge: 3 turns (can be reduced by Infernal Retaliation)

Blight lifts his infernal great axe, flames coiling around the blade, and makes a catastrophic downward strike:

Ignores all armor, shields, resistances, immunities, and magical barriers.

Cuts through any material—mundane or magical.

On a hit, the target is reduced to 1 hit point (cannot be reduced below 1 by this ability).

Infernal Retaliation: Blight gains Hellfire Charges whenever hit by ranged attacks. Each charge reduces Hellrend Cataclysm’s cooldown by 1 turn, up to 3 charges.

Quote: “With this, I will split the heavens.”

Artifact Tempus Machina / Time Stop

Bonus Action / Artifact Ability: When Blight drops below half his hit points, the artifact triggers Time Stop:

Blight takes 1d4 +1 turns in a row, moving and taking actions normally.

All other creatures in a 30-foot radius must succeed on DC 13 Charisma save or be frozen in time.

The spell ends if Blight affects any creature other than himself or objects worn/carried by others, or if he moves more than 1,000 feet from his starting location.

Bonus Actions

 Reckless (Bonus Action Option)

At the start of his turn, Blight can choose to gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls during that turn.

Attack rolls against him have advantage until the start of his next turn.

Artifact Tempus Machina Activation (Bonus Action)

When Blight drops below half hit points, he can activate the artifact to trigger Time Stop, taking multiple consecutive turns while other creatures in a 30-foot radius are frozen (DC 13 Charisma save).

Reactions

 Opportunity Attack

Blight can make an opportunity attack when a creature he can see leaves his reach using its action, bonus action, reaction, or any movement.

The attack occurs immediately before the creature leaves his reach and uses a melee weapon or unarmed strike.

Stormra’s Head Trigger

When an incoming attack occurs, Blight can use this reaction to reduce the attack’s effect. He gains resistance to the damage type until the start of his next turn. The first time Blight hits with a melee attack on his next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type.

Legendary Actions

Blight Longfang can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Blight regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Furious Swing

Cost: 1 action

Blight makes one melee attack with his Greataxe against a target within reach.

Cleaving Strike

Cost: 2 actions

Blight uses Cleave, making a second attack against a different creature within 5 feet of his first target.

Rage Shout

Cost: 2 actions

Blight hurls a mote of fire at a creature or object within 60 feet. Make a ranged spell attack against the target (DC 17). On a hit, the target takes 4d10 fire damage. Flammable objects not worn or carried ignite.

Hellfire Rampage

Cost: 3 actions

Blight enters a berserker surge for one round:

Gains advantage on all melee attack rolls.

Creatures within 10 ft. of Blight must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Can make one melee attack against every creature within reach.

Portal Chaos (Optional – with Nyx)

Cost: 3 actions

If Nyx is present and portals are active, Blight can command a portal to pulse violently. Each creature within 10 ft. of a portal must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 force damage and be pulled 5 ft. toward the portal.

 DM Tips for D&D Beyond:

Assign Furious Swing as a 1-action “basic attack” to keep Blight dangerous every round.

Use Hellfire Rampage sparingly to simulate berserker chaos and battlefield control.

Portal Chaos is a great way to integrate Nyx dynamically, making the encounter feel like a multi-character boss fight.

Mythic Actions

 Mythic Trait: Infernal Wrath

Trigger: When Blight Longfang drops to half his maximum hit points (or below), his body is consumed by an infernal flame and rage unlike any before.

Effect:

Berserker Surge: Blight automatically gains advantage on all melee attack rolls for the next 3 rounds, and attack rolls against him have disadvantage while in this state.

Infernal Cleave: Any time Blight hits a creature with a melee attack, he can immediately make an extra attack against a second creature within 5 ft. of the first target.

Hellfire Pulse: At the start of his turn, Blight emits a wave of fiery energy in a 15-foot radius. Creatures in the area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 3d10 fire damage (half damage on a success).

Artifact Tempus Machina Activation: If Blight’s Artifact Tempus Machina is in his possession, he can trigger Time Stop automatically once during the Mythic Action phase.

Duration: This mythic state lasts for 3 rounds or until Blight is reduced to 0 HP.

Optional Boss Dialogue (for cinematic effect):

“The flames of rage shall consume the weak, and the heavens will tremble beneath my wrath!”

DM Tips:

Use this when you want the battle to feel like a “final phase” boss fight.

Combine with Legendary Actions and Nyx’s portal abilities to create a dynamic multi-layered encounter.

The fire pulse and extra attacks can make it feel like the battlefield itself is alive.

Description

Blight Longfang, once the revered chieftain of the Longfang af Uthgar tribe in the eastern kingdom of Ulgarth, is now a figure of wrath and dark ambition. He rose to leadership after his father, Ragnar Longfang, vanished on a voyage at sea. For three years, his village prospered under his guidance, and he married Stormra Wulfgar of the Elk tribe, with whom he had two children: Harald and Gytha Longfang.

Pride and ambition, however, slowly corrupted him. Blight turned on neighboring tribes, culminating in the horrific destruction of the Elk tribe. During a climactic duel with Chieftain Wulfgar, Blight’s great axe accidentally decapitated Stormra, his own wife, as she tried to shield her father. Overcome by rage and guilt, a fiery darkness consumed Blight. He lost consciousness and awoke to find his village destroyed and his children dead. Survivors exiled him, fearful of the monster he had become. As he departed by boat, he screamed to the elders, “I will find who destroyed this village, and took my children from me!”

From this tragedy, Blight Longfang’s power and fury grew into legend. He gathered a dark party of mercenaries, warriors, and spellcasters devoted to his pursuit of ultimate power. Among them is Nyx, a half-elf warlock-bard, who uses her portal magic to send powerful artifacts directly to his hidden stronghold in the Underdark: the Castle of the Lost. Together, they scour the world for magical treasures, preparing to unlock forbidden powers and dominate kingdoms with Blight’s unstoppable rage and cunning.

Personality & Tactics:

Blight Longfang is a relentless berserker, charging into battle with terrifying strength and ferocity. In combat, he relies on brute force, intimidation, and the strategic support of his party. Nyx manipulates artifacts and opens portals to control the battlefield, allowing Blight to strike where he is most deadly. Blight sees the world through the lens of vengeance and power, and he surrounds himself with followers who share his obsession with artifacts and domination.

Quotes:

“I have let the Rage consume me...”

“I was blinded by it...”

“The Flames of Rage filled my lungs, and bled from my pores...”

“I can't face the one who destroyed my village! I can't face myself!”

“Power is the only truth in a world that took everything from me.”

“Nyx, bring me the artifacts… the forge shall be mine!”

Current Status:

Blight Longfang now reigns from the Castle of the Lost in the Underdark, a fortress of shadow, fire, and magic. His party’s operations involve seeking and securing powerful artifacts from around the realms, using Nyx’s portal abilities to transport them safely to his lair. He is particularly focused on locations of legendary magical significance, such as the Forge of Spells in Wave Echo Cave, where he and Nyx have been observed performing dark rituals.

Lair and Lair Actions

Castle of the Lost – Blight Longfang’s Lair

Location: Deep in the Underdark, carved into jagged obsidian cliffs and shadowed caverns, the Castle of the Lost serves as the fortress of Blight Longfang, a fearsome berserker barbarian, and his dark party. The lair is both a stronghold and a ritual site for acquiring powerful artifacts, many of which Nyx teleports and stores in secret pocket dimensions.

Appearance & Atmosphere:

The fortress exudes menace and chaos. Towers rise unevenly from black stone, some collapsed by previous battles, others reinforced with crude spikes and iron. The air vibrates with the echoing war cries of Blight’s followers and the faint hum of magical wards, amplified by Nyx’s ritual energy. Pools of stagnant water and glowing fungi illuminate the corridors in eerie green and violet, reflecting off jagged walls. The lair smells of metal, smoke, and damp earth, with an undercurrent of residual magical energy from stolen artifacts.

Key Features:

Blight’s Throne Hall: A massive central chamber, scarred by previous battles. Spikes, broken weapons, and ritualistic markings cover the floor. Here, Blight channels his berserker fury, rallying his followers, while Nyx performs songs or rituals to amplify their power or teleport artifacts.

Portal Chambers (Nyx’s Domain): Hidden rooms where Nyx stores and teleports magical artifacts to pocket dimensions. These chambers are protected by wards, traps, and magical alarms.

Ritual Platforms: Several circular stone platforms, each etched with runes for powering and stabilizing artifacts. Nyx often conducts rituals here under Blight’s protection, sometimes preparing for large-scale summoning or artifact transport.

The Shadowed Courtyards: Open sections partially collapsed into Underdark caverns, where Blight can charge and fight in his berserker state. Nyx can manipulate portals here, bringing reinforcements or artifacts mid-combat.

Undercity Tunnels: Hidden tunnels connect the castle to natural Underdark caverns. Only those with knowledge of planar magic or the Underdark can navigate these safely; otherwise, adventurers risk ambushes or getting lost.

Lair Actions (Blight + Nyx Combined):

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the following effects occur:

Berserker Roar (Blight): All allies within 30 feet gain advantage on attack rolls until the start of Blight’s next turn. Enemies must succeed on DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of their next turn.

Portal Pulse (Nyx): A portal opens somewhere in the lair. Each creature within 10 feet must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 force damage and be pulled 5 feet toward the portal.

Artifact Flux (Nyx): A stored magical artifact releases energy in a 15-foot radius: DC 17 Intelligence save or take 3d8 force, necrotic, or psychic damage (randomly determined).

Regional Effects: While within the Castle of the Lost:

Shadows seem to move unnaturally, giving creatures disadvantage on Perception checks.

Nyx’s portals last twice as long and are 5 feet larger.

Any planar travel within 1 mile risks misplacement unless the traveler succeeds on DC 16 Arcana check.

Encounter Hooks:

Adventurers may find Nyx and Blight performing a ritual to harness the Forge of Spells or teleport artifacts.

Blight’s raw berserker fury combined with Nyx’s portals creates a dynamic battlefield where melee and ranged threats constantly shift.

Confronting Nyx here may trigger Phase Shift, turning the lair itself into a battlefield of portals, shadows, and psychic energy.
