False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the gorgomite remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary coin.
Treasure Sense. A gorgomite possesses the ability to sense the presence of any piece of treasure of their owner within a 50-foot radius, regardless of its location. It instinctively knows the location of every item they own nearby. Gorgomites can also easily find treasure, granting advantage on perception and investigation checks made by them to find items. Gorgomites can cast the Locate Object 3 times a day. The Gorgomite must know what the item looks like to cast this spell.
Mischievous Nature. Gorgomites are inherently playful and prefer to avoid direct confrontation. When threatened, they resort to cleverness and deceit rather than aggression to safeguard their amassed treasures, granting a bonus +3 to any save to avoid taking damage.
Treasure Pilfer. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) piercing damage. Creatures hit by this attack must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or lose 1d4 (1d4) pieces of treasure. The Gorgomite adds the stolen items to its owner's backpack.
Shapechanger. As an action, a Gorgomite can mechanically transform into any coin, gem, or small treasure it has seen. It reverts to its original form (which looks like an egg or mechanical creature with wings) upon defeat or can choose to do so as a bonus action.
Description
This tiny creature is a great companion for those who like to treasure hunt in ruins and dungeons. Gorgomites look like small metallic eggs or mite like mechanical creatures when in their natural forms. They can transform into other small magical items, still only taking their appearance and not traits. These tiny mites are said to be able to find valuable items quickly.
