Description

Avaraxiel was once a solar in service to a storm deity.

tasked with carrying divine tempests across the planes. But ambition corrupted him. Envious of his god’s control over the winds of fate, Avaraxiel struck out on his own, attempting to usurp a plane of air.

Banished from the heavens, he was dragged into the Nine Hells. There, Asmodeus saw potential and twisted Avaraxiel’s celestial nature into something terrible. Reforged in Cania, Avaraxiel retained his wings and weather-commanding power, now turned to destructive, infernal purpose.

Motivations & Themes:

  • Control Through Chaos: Avaraxiel preaches that true order comes not from stasis, but from predictable destruction—storms that raze weakness and leave only strength.

  • Fallen Nobility: His servants are refined, composed, and terrifying—storm butlers and thunder-knights who wield elegance like a blade.

  • Temptation Through Freedom: He offers mortals the power to "master their own storms" and break free of fate, all while secretly binding them tighter.

Lair and Lair Actions

Domain – The Shardstorm Spires:

A subrealm within Cania, ruled over by Mephistopheles, this region is not frozen like the rest of the layer. Instead, it's a shattered landscape of floating obsidian spires suspended in an endless, howling superstorm. Lightning lashes the sky, and updrafts of infernal heat form colossal thunderheads above.

  • Climate: Constant stormwinds, acidic rain, and howling gusts carry screams.

  • Denizens: Winged devils, storm-forged constructs, and lightning-warped souls.

  • Power Structure: Avaraxiel serves Mephistopheles officially but schemes for more autonomy, perhaps seeking to usurp a full layer.
