Traits

Parasite (SRP-74). Parasites will not attack beings controlled by the SRP-74 parasite, nor will they attack beings that serve SRP-74. Otherwise, it will attack the creature on sight.

COTH. Everything within the territory of a stage 2 beckon is inflicted with COTH.

Stage 2 Beckon. After being at stage 2 for 20 minutes, a stage 2 beckon will evolve into a stage 3 beckon, which has its own page.

Stationary. Stage 2 beckons are fixed in place and can not be moved from their position.

Magic Resistance. The beckon has advantage on saving throws and death saving throws against all forms of magic.

Actions

COTH Effect. The COTH effect can only be inflicted onto organic matter. If a creature with COTH dies, they will become an assimilated creature, fighting for the SRP-74 parasite. COTH is a contagious effect and is spread when an inflicted creature harms another creature. It can also be spread through bodily fluids.

Spawn. The beckon releases 3-4 medium gooey, lime-green pods, called biomass pods. After a couple of seconds, 1 Assimilated Tier parasite bursts out of each biomass pod. There are many Assimilated Tier parasites, and each has their own pages. The DM may also create their own Assimilated creatures to use.

Bombing. The beckon launches 4 seamine-shaped masses of red flesh, which explode after a few seconds. All creatures within 5 feet of the explosion, excluding those infected by SRP-74, are dealt 2d6 Necrotic/Poison damage. The explosion does not effect terrain.

Bonus Actions

Beckon Protection. Nearby parasites come to protect the beckon from the intruders.

Reactions

Panic Spawn. If a being that does not serve the SRP-74 parasite goes within 40 feet of a stage 2 beckon, it will immediately use the action, Spawn.

Description

SRP-74 Infection

SRP-74 is a parasitic infection from the modded dimension [MC_ScapeRunParasites_74], the 74th MC dimension to have this category of parasites.

Interdimensional Access. The SRP-74 parasite gained access to interdimensional travel when a careless dimension hopper teleported to [MC_ScapeRunParasites_74], linking the infected dimension to the dimension they came from, a dimension which happened to have several hundred portals to other dimensions.

SRP-74 World Portals. Albeit a very rare occurrence, SRP-74 World Portals are interdimensional portals that connect a completely assimilated dimension to a newly infected one.

Appearance

The picture provided is of a stage 2 beckon in the dimension [MC_ScapeRunParasites_74]. Do keep in mind, [MC_] dimensions are unusually blocky, and SRP-74 parasites have a much less blocky form in other dimensions.

Stage 1 beckons are 6-8 foot tall plant-like creatures. They have a sturdy base, with roots extending into the ground below them. On top of the base is 4 large symmetrical appendages. There is a small circle of bright green biomass at the bottom of each appendage, with a large circle below the small circle. On top of the base and between the appendages, is a large amount of bright green biomass.

Biomass Pods. Biomass pods are masses of bright green biomass. After a few seconds, biomass pods will hatch, releasing the parasite inside them.

Formation

Beckons have a chance to be formed when any SRP-74 parasite dies. The chance depends on how severe the world's parasitic infection is. Beckons are likelier to form from parasites that die on Parasitic Residue, which is left behind after Infected Lands are destroyed. The chance itself starts at 1 in a million, and increases differently in every dimension. DM may choose the chance of beckon formation.

Nexus Tier

The Nexus Tier consists of extremely problematic, yet stationary, parasites.

By far the most problematic, the Nexus Tier of parasites is responsible for the creation of the strongest tiers of parasites. There are only a few parasites in the Nexus Tier, but all of them are capable of wreaking havoc should they not be dealt with in their early stages of development. The beckon has 4 stages of evolution, the 1st and 2nd stages are easy to deal with, as the 1st stage only creates Newborn Tier parasites and the 2nd stage only creates common Assimilated Tier parasites. When the beckon reaches the 3rd stage is when things get troublesome, with the stage 3 beckon creating 4-5 Primitive Tier parasites at a time.

Should a world have a Beckon Tree, or Stage 4 Beckon, it is extremely likely it will be overcome the parasites. The Beckon Tree is a formidable problem, creating 5-6 Pure Tier parasites at a time, causing Primitive Tier parasites in its territory to become Adapted Tier parasites, and the constant risk of the Beckon Tree creating the Biome Node. Should the Biome Node be created, the world its on will never be the same.

Lair and Lair Actions

Infected Lands

Every minute, the territory of the Infected Lands spreads a little bit more. Below are the changes to the environment caused by Infected Lands with a stage 2 beckon.

  • Rocks/Dirts. Rocks and dirts become dark green and mostly organic.
  • Metals. Metals become semi-organic with a dark green tint.
  • Plants. Flora in the Infected Lands are assimilated, becoming hostile towards those who don't serve the SRP-74 parasite.
  • Liquids. Liquids taken by the Infected Lands are slightly bloodied, with water being a clear red color.

Lair's Passive Effects

  • Organic beings in the terrain of the Infected Lands will continuously take 1d6 Necrotic/Poison damage.
  • Everything in the infected lands has COTH, due to the walls and ground being parasites.
  • Primitive Tier parasites will remember where Infected Lands are, and will notice when they are destroyed.

In order to destroy Infected Lands, one must kill all beckons that are within the Infected Lands. After all of the beckons are killed, the Infected Lands will rapidly deteriorate into dirts, stones, and Parasitic Residue.
