Spellcasting. The Waqwaq Tree is a 2nd level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 17, +8 to hit with spell attacks). The Waqwaq Tree has the following druid spells prepared:
Cantrip (at will): Poison Spray (3d12)
1st level (4 slots): Charm Person, Entangle
A humanoid charmed by the Waqwaq Tree feels its vines as a hug from a dear friend. They have disadvantage on their Strength saving throw from being swallowed.
The Waqwaq tree gets 3 ranged vine attacks and 1 bite attack per turn.
Bite. +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 20(3d8 + 6) piercing damage. Bitten target must succeed a STR 18 DC or be swallowed.
Swallowed creatures take 20 (4d10) acid damage on the start of each of their turns. They must succeed on a STR 18 DC to be freed. Alternatively, if the Waqwaq Tree is burned, it barfs up all swallowed creatures.
Vine Attack. +8 to hit, range 30 ft., 1 target. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 6) Slashing damage. Hit target must succeed on a STR 18 DC or be grappled and pulled to the tree's mouth.
Bearing Fruit. When the Waqwaq Tree loses one-fifth, two-fifths, three-fifths, and four-fifths of its hit points (HP threshholds: 100, 75, 50, 25), it bears forth a succubus, who enters the combat on the same initiative as the waqwaq tree. On a given day, the waqwaq tree can only bear 4 succubi.
Description
The Waqwaq Tree is a huge, menacing, gnarled tree that stands in an enclosed grove. If one looks closely at the fruit, they are heads of beautiful women. These bloom as the tree takes damage. The tree also bleeds a red sap that looks like thicker blood.
If the Waqwaq Tree is defeated, it stops moving, and its leaves wither. It takes 1d20 + 20 days to recover and become reanimated. If it is burned/destroyed to the ground, but not uprooted, it takes 1d100 + 100 days to recover and become reanimated. If it is uprooted and chopped up/scattered, it will recover in 1d20 + 10 years. If it is fully uprooted and burned, it will never recover.
Lair and Lair Actions
A ringed wall surrounds the grove in which the waqwaq tree grows. The roots cover the entire ground within the grove, and the entire area inside the grove is difficult terrain.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 10 (losing initiative ties), the Waqwaq Tree takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Waqwaq Tree can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Poison Spray Cantrip (3d12)
- Heal 15 HP
The Waqwaq tree cannot heal on its lair action if it was burned with fire since its last lair action.
