Traits

Magic Resistance. The Beholded has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Bulwark Tail. When the Beholded hits with its Tail Slam attack, the target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be pushed back by (1d4 ÷ 2 rounded down, minimum 1) × 5 feet. The Beholded can push creatures only if they are Large or smaller.

Actions

Tail Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage. The target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be pushed back as per Bulwark Tail.

Bonus Actions

Burrow Shield. The Beholded burrows slightly into the ground to brace itself, gaining +2 AC until the start of its next turn. While burrowed, it cannot move but can still attack.

Reactions

Eye Flash. When a creature the Beholded can see attacks it, the Beholded can unleash a bright flash from its eyeball. The attacker must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or have disadvantage on the attack roll.

Description

A massive serpentine horror, the Beholded’s body twists and coils beneath the earth, its thick scales shimmering with a faint magical aura. Where a head should be, a single enormous eyeball stares unblinking, its pupil contracting and expanding as if calculating every move around it. The ground trembles faintly with each slow, deliberate movement of its powerful tail — a weapon capable of battering foes and pushing them away with overwhelming force. The Beholded’s eerie eye can flash a blinding light to disrupt attacks, while it can brace itself by burrowing into the earth, making it a daunting, tanky guardian of subterranean lairs or forgotten ruins.
