Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, range 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (4d4) piercing damage & 8 (3d4 + 1) acid damage.

Exterior Digestion. Ranged Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, range 30x5 ft. line. Hit: 23 (4d8 + 5) acid damage. (If a creature is behind another in the line of damage, they take 1/2 of the damage. Description

A unique creature created by the Nonagon Cult. Only a few of these have been created, and are typically made by accident. When a group ritual goes wrong in just the right way, it ends with a Beast Of Burden. These obese, immobile creatures are coated in slime and filth, and often contain several dozen individuals in the fused collective. They exist in constant agony, and even the cruel members of the Nonagon Cult pity these horrific beings. Most of those fused in whatever ritual predated each one lose their sense of self and identity, fueled only by hunger and pain. Those who do keep their senses often scream for those around them to kill them, though those attempts never succeed, as the Beasts Of Burden are kept alive by the Holy Nonagon's power, constantly regenerating lost limbs and flesh wounds.

Lair and Lair Actions

The Beasts Of Burden often sit in the center of a Nonagon Cult encampment, stationed directly on top of the ritual circle. Filth, mucus, and corpses cover the area in which they sit.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 15 (losing initiative ties), the Beast Of Burden takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Beast Of Burden can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Flesh Root: The Beast Of Burden makes several arms pop out of the ground beneath a creature, attempting to Grapple them. On a success, the Beast Of Burden deals 2d4 bludgeoning damage and the targeted creature is Grappled.
  • Ritual Circle Pulse: The Beast Of Burden creates a pulse of energy from the ritual circle it sits upon, dealing 8 force damage to all grounded creatures within 15 ft. of the Beast Of Burden.
  • Rapid Growth: The Beast Of Burden quickly grows a long appendage to Grapple a creature. On a success, the targeted creature is Grappled and will be dragged towards the Beast Of Burden by 5 ft. for every turn it cannot escape the Grapple.
