Gear Veilshard Mask (Wondrous item, rare, requires attunement) A fractured porcelain mask with shifting expression — laughter on one side, grief on the other. Veil energy pulses beneath the glaze. While wearing this mask, you gain advantage on Deception checks and can cast Disguise Self at will. Once per long rest, you can cast Blink without material components. When you drop to 0 hit points, you may instead become Incorporeal until the start of your next turn. You remain conscious, cannot interact with the world, and take no damage, but cannot regain hit points during this time. This ability then deactivates and cannot be used again until a long rest. The mask whispers fragments of future or impossible selves when held to your ear. 🧪 Elixir of the Veil (x1–2) (Potion, rare, unstable) A translucent liquid swirls in the bottle, always forming a thin line across its center, like a horizon. As an action, drink to become partially phased for 1 minute: You have resistance to nonmagical damage. You can move through creatures as if they were difficult terrain. Once during the duration, you can cast Misty Step (no components). Side Effect: Roll a d10. On a 1, you permanently lose 1 Wisdom as a sliver of your mind is left behind in the Veil. On a 10, you glimpse something vast and gain +1 Wisdom until your next long rest (stackable up to +2). 🧬 Ghostshade Petal (Consumable, uncommon) A dried, shimmering herb tied in black silk thread. Used in veil rituals or spellcasting. As a bonus action, you may burn this petal while casting a spell with a teleportation, divination, or invisibility effect. You may treat the spell as if cast at one level higher. Additionally, the spell cannot be counterspelled or detected by Detect Magic. Used in crafting veil-related items or by certain arcane merchants for up to 200 gp. 📜 Fragmented Contract of the Chain (Lore Item / Plot Hook) Found folded in Whisperbriar’s robes or tattooed on his inner arm. The contract appears written in three voices, one of which responds to players who speak Deep Speech. It outlines a trade of memories, names, and spatial positions in return for veil power. One name is scratched out, but a faint “Truscan” remains. If brought to certain scholars, this contract is recognized as a fragment of a planar pact — too complex for any mortal entity to have drafted. 🗝️ Optional: Veil-Slashed Key (Wondrous item, rare) A simple iron key with threads of silver and black curling from the shaft. Once per day, this key can open a locked door, chest, or barrier by shifting it briefly into the Border Ethereal. If used on a magic-locked container, roll a d20. On a 16–20, it succeeds; on a 1–5, the object partially phases and is rendered unusable for 24 hours.

Traits

Indomitable (3/Day). The warlord can reroll a saving throw it fails. It must use the new roll.

Survivor. The warlord regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point but fewer hit points than half its hit point maximum.

Veil-Walker (Recharge 5-6): phases into a semi-ethereal state for 1 minute. While active:

  • He gains resistance to all damage except radiant and force.
  • He can move through solid objects and creatures (as per gaseous form, no speed reduction).
  • Spell attacks against him have disadvantage unless the caster can see into the Ethereal Plane.

Shifting Mask (1/Day): Upon being reduced to 0 HP, creature can vanish in a shimmer of veil-energy, leaving only his mask behind. He reappears with 50 HP in a shadowed corner within 300 feet after 1 minute. Until then, he exists in the Border Ethereal and can observe but not interact.

Arcane Echo (3/day): When casting a spell of 1st level or higher, creature creates a mirrored echo (illusory clone) that lasts for 1 minute or until struck. While the clone is active:

  • He gains advantage on one saving throw of his choice per round.
  • If struck by a ranged spell or attack, the attacker must roll twice and choose the lower.
Actions

Multiattack. The warlord makes two weapon attacks.

Dagger. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Eldritch Blast (Cantrip): +9 to hit, range 120 ft., 3 beams. Each hit deals 12 (1d10 + 5) force damage.

Whispers of the Veil (Recharge 5–6): Each creature of choice within 30 ft. must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw.

  • On a fail, they are frightened and blinded until the end of their next turn, and take 4d6 psychic damage.
  • Success: Half damage and not frightened.

The warlock of the veil can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below.

Veilstep (Cost 1): Teleport 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
