Traits

Legendary Resistance (2/Day). If Aphrodite fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead. She regains one expended use of this feature each time she successfully dominates a creature. She can never have more than 3 total uses at a time, and loses any additional resistances (above 2) after 1 hour if not used.

Divine Character. Aphrodite cannot fail a Charisma saving throw.

Aura of Allure. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of Aphrodite must succeed on a DC 27 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by Aphrodite until the start of its next turn. If a creature's saving throw is successful, the creature is immune to Aphrodite's Aura of Allure for the next 1 minute.

Form of Beauty. All creatures adds their Charisma modifier, but subtract 5 from attack rolls and ability checks while they can see Aphrodite, for example, if a creatures Charisma modifer was +3, they would subtract 2 from all of these rolls.

Unblemished Form. Aphrodite is immune to being polymorphed, banished, dominated, possessed, or aged.

Spellcasting. Aphrodite's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 27, +19 to hit with spell attacks). She can cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

  • At will: charm person, friends, guidance, heroism, mass healing wordmisty step
  • 3/day each: dominate person, hold monster, mass suggestion, power word heal, synaptic static, modify memory
  • 2/day each: dominate monster, geas, mind blankfeeblemind
  • 1/day each: foresight, imprisonment (only for non-lethal, love-related confinement), power word stun
Actions

Multiattack. Aphrodite makes two attacks: one with her Embrace, and one with Cupid's Shortbow. She can substitute one attack for a spell.

Embrace (Unarmed). Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (4d4 + 8) bludgeoning damage plus the target must succeed on a DC 27 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by Aphrodite until the end of its next turn. While charmed in this way, the target is restrained (optional, by Aphrodite) and regards Aphrodite as a beloved ally. Aphrodite can end the restrained condition at any time.

Cupid's Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, range 300/1200 ft., one target. Hit: 29 (4d8 + 11) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 27 Charisma saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn.

Infatuation (Recharge 5-6). Aphrodite chooses up to three creatures she can see within 120 feet. Each target must succeed on a DC 27 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by Aphrodite for 1 minute. At the start of each turn, creatures charmed by this effect loses one random item from their inventory; this may include items which are equipped at the discretion of the DM.  If Aphrodite dies, all of these items reappear in a random location within her lair. The charmed creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Bonus Actions

Love's Burden. One creature charmed or dominated by Aphrodite must succeed on a DC 27 Charisma saving throw or gain 2 levels of exhaustion and be magically aged by 1d4 years. This aging can be reversed only by a greater restoration spell or higher magic.

Day and Night. Aphridite emits a sphere of night in a 300 foot radius around her. This night is considered non-magical darkness, and glimmers with thousands of pin-prick stars. Alternatively, if it is already dark in her area, she may use this action to create a similarly sized sphere of daylight. The sphere remains in place until Aphrodite dies or uses this action again to turn it off.

Reactions

Peace and Love.  If Aphrodite ends her turn without dealing damage to any creature, she may use her reaction to regain 20% of her maximum health (92 hitpoints).

Legendary Actions

Aphrodite can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Aphrodite regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Attack (Costs 1 Action). Aphrodite makes one Embrace or Cupid's Bow attack.

Bloom (Costs 2 Actions). Aphrodite creates a 30-foot-radius sphere of blossoming flora centered on a point she can see within 120 feet. Each creature in the sphere has its speed halved. Additionally, attack rolls made from within the area (even if targeting creatures outside of it) are made with disadvantage. The area lasts until the end of Aphrodite's next turn.

Love Lost (Costs 3 Actions, 2/Day). All creatures charmed or dominated by Aphrodite within 120 feet of her are immediately reduced to 10% of their maximum hit points. This damage cannot be resisted or reduced.

Mythic Actions

Mythic Action Name. Enter the description for how mythic actions work for your monster here. Once per day, when Aphrodite is reduced to 0 hitpoints she does not go unconscious, instead, she  regains 100% of her maximum hitpoints, regains any expended uses of Love Lost and assumes her Form of Scorn. In this form:

  • Her AC is increased to 26
  • She deals double damage on all attacks
  • Her movement speeds are doubled
  • She gains two additional uses of Legendary Actions per round.
  • Scorn: the first time Aphrodite takes damage on another creatures turn, that creature suffers 25% of the damage Aphrodite took.

Additionally, Aphrodite, Scorned, her actions, bonus actions, and reactions change as follows:

Greater Multiattacks (Action). When Aphrodite uses her multiattack, she:

  • Gains two additional attacks
  • All damage dealt becomes either necrotic, or piericing (Aphrodite's choice)
  • When she would Charm a creature with embrace, she instead dominates them. This domination lasts 1 minute. A creature may repeat a saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success.

Love, Found (Bonus Action). As a bonus action Aphrodite can teleport up to 1000 feet to a location adjacent to a creature she is currently charming or dominating.

Evasion (Reaction). When Aphrodite must make a dexterity saving throw she may use her reaction to take half damage if she fails the save, or no damage if she succeeds the save.

Description

Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Loss, is a being of breathtaking, almost painful, beauty. Her form, often cloaked in shimmering starlight, evokes an irresistible yearning in the hearts of all who behold her. Her touch can inspire profound devotion or paralyzing obsession, and her voice, a melody woven from silk and sighs, can sway the mightiest wills. Yet, beneath the veneer of ethereal grace lies the sharp edge of heartbreak and the chilling indifference of fleeting affection.

When crossed, her love curdles into a bitter scorn, unleashing a terrifying vengeful power that shatters not just bodies, but souls, a stark reminder that the greatest loves often pave the way for the deepest sorrows.

Lair and Lair Actions

Aphrodite's lair, whether a secluded grove or an opulent temple, transforms to reflect her dual nature as the Goddess of Love and Loss. Within 6 miles of her primary dwelling, the natural world thrives with an almost unnatural vibrancy. Flowers bloom eternally, soft light permeates even the deepest shadows, and the air carries a faint, intoxicating perfume. Yet, beneath this beauty, a profound sense of yearning and melancholy often pervades, stirring forgotten desires and ancient heartbreaks in the hearts of those who dwell there.

While within this expanded region around her lair, creatures are subject to intense emotional swings, and sometimes here music which does not appear to come from anywhere. An almost intoxicating presence permeates the area giving creatures disadvantage on survival checks, and nullifying creatures' immunity to charm - creatures who would usually be immune to charm instead have advantage to save against it.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), one of the following lair actions occurs.

Dream of Love. A wave of enchanted sleep washes over a 120-foot radius sphere centered on a point Aphrodite can see within the lair. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or fall unconscious for 1 minute. A creature wakes up if it takes damage or if another creature uses an action to wake it. This has no effect on creatures who are unable to sleep.

Renewed Affection. Aphrodite and up to three creatures charmed by her within 120 feet of her regain 6d8 + 24 hit points.

Scornful Terror (Only in Form of Scorn). If Aphrodite is in her Form of Scorn, she can unleash a surge of raw heartbreak. All creatures within 60 feet of her must succeed on a DC 27 Constitution saving throw or take 12d12 necrotic damage and be frightened of Aphrodite until the end of their next turn; creatures frightened by this effect have the charm and dominated conditions removed. On a successful save, they take half damage and aren't frightened.
