Description
Few and far between have ever seen an Angel of Flesh and lived to tell the tale. These beings appear like a glorious angel from afar. Their silhouette heavenly and beautiful but as they grow closer you see the truth. Their wings are made of flesh gathered from their victims. Where there would normally be feathers are rows upon rows of fingers. Their faces are featureless clumps of meat torn from all sorts of creatures. What may appear to be robes when silhouetted can be seen to be large flaps of skin. Their legs appear nonfunctional under their dress of flesh. The only part of their body that appears to be delicately maintained or chosen are their arms and hands.
The Angels of Flesh are clever manipulators and liars. They utilize illusion magic and their silver tongue to lure people to them. Forming cults to gather flesh or sacrifices for them. Seeking to grow their strength through any means, but preferring to gather a horde of dedicated followers. Most of these angels enter the material plane by answering corrupted prayers or rituals, seeking those with dark desires or weak minds. Rarely an Angel of Flesh will escape the Far Realm via tears in reality and seek to grow their own empire of carrion.
Lair and Lair Actions
Angels of Flesh prefer to make their lairs in corrupted holy sites or caves with access to the sky. Taking the flesh they crave and their depraved followers they will create an unholy system of tunnels and pathways so that it may travel to and from its various dining areas with ease. It seeks to expand its carrion empire constantly.
The region containing an angel of flesh's lair is warped by its presence, creating the following effects:
Sweet Decay. All non-living flesh within 1 mile smells and tastes delicious. Creatures other than the angel and its allies that eat such meat must succeed on a DC15 Wisdom saving throw or have the Charmed for 1 hour. They are charmed by the angel and more susceptible to it's machinations.
Psychic Fingers. All creatures within 1 mile have the strange feeling of being watched and occasionally as though fingers are touching them. The angel can communicate telepathically with any creature within a mile of its lair while it is within its lair.
If the angel of flesh is destroyed or moves its lair elsewhere, these effects end immediately. The effects resume if the angel of flesh gains a new body (see its Aberrant Regeneration trait).
