Vile resistance. The hex dragon has advantage on saves against effects and spells that would count as debuffs such as bane, power word stun, bestow curse, etc.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The ancient hex dragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Innate Spellcasting. The ancient hex dragon's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 23). The ancient hex dragon can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: deathward
3/day: suggestion
1/day each: geas, hold person
Retributive curse. When a target deals more than 10 points of damage to the hex dragon it can curse them as a reaction if they fail a dc 17 wisdom save. Giving them on of the following effects and when the hex dragon is reduced to 0 hit points each creature within 40ft must make a dc 17 wisdom save or be cursed.
Sickness: the target becomes poisoned until the curse is removed.
Agony: the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls and checks.
Blindness: the target becomes blind.
Insanity: the target gains one permanent insanity flaw from the permanent insanity table.
Multiattack. The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 23 (4d8 + 7) piercing damage plus 20 (4d10) acid damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., 1 target. Hit: 16 (3d6 + 7) slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 20 ft., 1 target. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon’s choice that is within 120 ft of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Vile breath (recharge 5-6). The hex dragon exhales a 10ft wide 80ft ling of vile venom and each creature within the radius must make a dc 17 Constitution saving throw or take 1d10 points of constitution damage and 30 (10d6) necrotic damage. On a successful save the target takes only half the necrotic damage and none of the constitution damage. The lost constitution points can only be regained after a long rest and if the target's constitution is reduced to 0 they die.
The ancient hex dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The ancient hex dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Detect (Costs 1 Actions). The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Tail attack (Costs 1 Actions). The dragon makes a tail attack.
Wing attack (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 10 ft. of the dragon must succeed on a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 13 (2d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.
