Traits

Magic Resistance. Vancleef Wolfgaurd has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Necrotic Aura. Unless Vancleef Wolfgaurd is incapacitated, it and undead creatures of its choice within 60 feet of it have advantage on saving throws against features that turn undead and gain a bonus to their saving throws equal to Vancleef Wolfgaurd's Charisma modifier.

Living creatures within 30 feet of Vancleef Wolfgaurd has their saving throw reduced equal to Vancleef Wolfgaurd's Charisma modifier. 

Necrotic Smite. When Vancleef Wolfgaurd hits a creature with a melee weapon attack, they can expend one spell slot to deal necrotic damage to the target, in addition to the weapon’s damage. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st, to a maximum of 4d8. The damage increases by 1d8 if the target is a non-undead, to a maximum of 5d8. 

Spellcasting. The Vancleef Wolfgaurd is a 9th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16, +8 to hit with spell attacks). It has the following paladin spells prepared:

1st level (4 slots): shield of faith, wrathful smite, searing smite

2nd level (3 slots): lesser restoration, magic weapon

3rd level (3 slots): dispel magic, spirit shroud

 

Actions

Multiattack. The Vancleef Wolfgaurd makes three greatsword attacks.

Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage, plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. Vancleef Wolfgaurd regains hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt.

Shadowfell's Call Recharge 6. Vancleef Wolfgaurd calls upon the shadowfell to bring dread to the material plane. Creature's within 30ft that isn't behind total cover has to make a Wisdom Saving Throw DC 16, or take 27 (6d6) necrotic damage and become frightened of Vancleef Wolfgaurd. A creature that succeeds takes half damage instead.

Reactions

Bone Shield: Vancleef Wolfgaurd can pull from the bones of nearby corpses and gaining 20 temporary hit points. When taking melee damage from a creature within 5ft of Vancleef Wolfgaurd as Bone Shield is active, the bones burst out dealing 20 piercing damage to the attacker.
