Nocturnal Scavenger. The vampcoon has advantage on Perception checks that rely on hearing or smell. While in dim light or darkness they have advantage in all perception checks.
Winged Mischief. The vampcoon has advantage on Sleight of Hand checks made to steal small, unattended objects such as food or trinkets.
Evasive Flier. When the vampcoon takes the Disengage action, it can also fly up to half its flying speed as part of the same action.
Food for Fortune. If a creature offers the vampcoon food as an action, the vampcoon must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, if it is carrying any stolen object, it drops the trinket at the creature’s feet or places it gently into their hand (if within 5 feet). The DM determines the quality or usefulness of the returned object.
Multiattack. The vampcoon makes one Bite and one Claw attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage.
Screech (Recharge 5–6). The vampcoon emits a bone-rattling screech audible up to 300 feet away. Each creature within 20 feet of the vampcoon that can hear it must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 11 (2d10) thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success. Creatures that fail the saving throw are also deafened until the end of their next turn.
Cunning Action. The vampcoon can take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action as a bonus action.
Description
The Vampcoon is a winged, nocturnal raccoon-like beast found in wooded regions and shadowy city alleys. Though its leathery wings, beady red eyes, and sharp fangs give it an unsettling appearance, it is mostly harmless — unless cornered, startled, eating, or defending its young. Vampcoons are clever and curious creatures, known to sneak into campsites and homes to pilfer shiny trinkets or unattended snacks. However, clever travelers have discovered that these creatures can be bribed with food to return stolen goods — a useful trick if one nabs something important. People that live near its habitat often leave out small offerings to appease them, as a well-fed vampcoon is less likely to scream at you from your rooftop at 2 a.m.
