Expandable Gullet. The Pelivore can carry one Medium creature, two Small creatures, or up to 150 pounds of objects in its gullet pouch. Creatures inside are restrained and blinded, and begin suffocating after 1 minute unless they can breathe water or airless environments. The pelivore can regurgitate a target (no action required) or swallow another with a bite attack (see below).
Flyby: The Pelivore doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.
Magical Muffle. A creature trapped in the Pelivore’s pouch cannot speak, cast spells with verbal components, or be heard by effects like Message or Sending. Their voice is magically muffled until they are released.
Watersense. The Pelivore can pinpoint the location of any creature or object in water within 60 feet of it, as long as the creature is not behind total cover.
Multiattack. The Pelivore makes two attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed into the Pelivore’s pouch and become restrained.
Water Jet. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 15/60 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) force damage, and if the target, or anything within 10 feet of them, is on fire it is extinguished.
Supersonic Wing Pulse. Once per turn, if the Pelivore has used at least half of its flight speed during this turn it can use one of its attacks to do a Supersonic Wing Pulse. All creatures within 15 ft of it must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 (2d6 +3) thunder damage and be knocked prone, taking half as much and not being knocked prone if they succeed. Any non-magical fire within this range is extinguished.
Regurgitate Items(Recharge 5–6). The Pelivore violently expels the contents of its gullet in a 15-foot cone. Creatures in the area must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 4 (1d6) bludgeoning damage, 4 (1d6) piercing damage, 4 (1d6) slashing damage, and 4 (1d6) acid damage. Any creature stored in the gullet automatically fails the saving throw and is ejected prone in the center of the cone. In its wake, the attack will leave various random items on the ground in the affected area that may be either magic or mundane, and it is the DM's discretion on what is left.
Description
The Pelivore looks like a monstrous pelican with shimmering, scale-rimmed wings and a vast, magical throat pouch. Though unaligned and largely instinct-driven, it has developed a bizarre adaptation: instead of simply storing fish, it now swallows items, people, and even spells that pass too close to its throat. It mysteriously has also developed a strong disdain for fire and will go out of its way to put it out if it sees any.
Often found skimming the waters of brackish lakes or ancient ruins partially submerged in water, these creatures are feared by local sailors and swamp-folk. Some believe they were once regular pelicans, cursed by a sea hag or warped by exposure to arcane runoff.
