Traits

It Hovers! Advertron hovers in the air as long as it is operational. It is unaffected by difficult terrain and may not be knocked prone.

360-Degree High-Resolution Advertising Power! Advertron's bright and tacky projected ads are very distracting. It is considered three-quarters cover for the purposes of targeting its allies.

Just Check Out These Amazing GnomeX Products! Other GnomeX-aligned constructs on the field of combat gain an additional d4 to attack rolls and saving throws. They automatically succeed to resist the jingle.

My First Loyalty is to Capital! Advertron must move to collect any money left on the battlefield at the beginning of its turn, incurring any attacks of opportunity that result. Collecting this money counts as an action, but will not interrupt the jingle.

Can't Stop Me Now! Advertron's jingle may not be interrupted by nonmagical means. If its Hit Points reach zero before the jingle has concluded, it will lose the effects but continue to play, weak and distorted. All who hear it are still cursed.

Actions

Targeted Advertising! Special Ability, Requires Concentration, One Target. Advertron projects a series of advertisements in front of a target it can see, based on its consumer profile. The target must succeed an Intelligence or Wisdom saving throw (whichever is lower), DC 16, or be charmed for the duration. While charmed, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0. The effect ends if the creature takes damage or someone else uses an action to shake the creature out of its stupor. Purchase Completed! will automatically hit a creature under this effect.

Purchase Completed! Touch Attack: Multiattack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Target takes no damage, but loses 3d8+4 gold, which is immediately transported to the GnomeX brokerage in the Astral Plane. After two days, a box of common items of equal value arrives at their door.

Bonus Actions

Try This Amazing Free Sample! Area Effect, 20ft. Roll a d6. Advertron loudly names and blasts a product sample from the table below, which showers around itself. Advertron only has one of each sample, so in the case of repeats choose the next closest product.

  1. Tinker's Choice Jeweler's Hammers - All creatures must make a Dex save, DC15, or take 6d6 nonmagical bludgeoning damage. If successful, the damage is halved.
  2. Uncle Alric's "Guaranteed Nonflammable" Machine Oil - The area and all targets within are covered in an extremely flammable oil. The area is considered difficult terrain, and any creature that begins or ends its turn in the area of effect must succeed a DC15 Dex save or fall prone. If a doused creature is ever within 5ft of an open flame, they will immediately begin burning. If the oil is ever within 5ft of an open flame, it will burst into a large blaze and will spread if possible. The oil persists until it is cleaned up or burned away.
  3. Partytime Ultrafine Glitter - A cloud of impossibly fine glitter fills the area. Creatures who breathe within the area of effect must make a DC18 constitution saving throw or be incapacitated and suffocating until the end of their next turn. The glitter cloud dissipates at the beginning of Advertron's next turn. Affected creatures will glitter slightly for 1d6 weeks.
  4. Genius Fuel Brain Enhancing Supplements - A shower of 120 bright red tablets cover the area. All creatures within the area are considered to have 10 supplements in their inventory, or they may be picked up during or after combat. Creatures may spend a bonus action taking the pills. They have no effect.
  5. Advance Copies of Alric Tinshaper's Autobiography: The Burden of Greatness - Several signed hardcover copies of the GnomeX CEO's self-aggrandizing biography rain down, dealing 1 nonmagical bludgeoning damage to all creatures within the area. The book seems to have been ghost written by a construct without a firm grasp of the nuances of Common, and it is full of rhetorical inconsistencies. Creatures who read the biography must succeed a DC18 Intelligence save to continue reading. Successful creatures take a -1 penalty to Intelligence and Wisdom until their next long rest, and will automatically fail any saving throws to resist making foolish purchases or investments.
  6. EZ-Fix Deluxe Repair Nanobots - A swarm of tiny constructs buzz around the area, attempting to fix any creatures within with small arc welders. Constructs (including Advertron) gain 2d12 hit points if they end their turn in the cloud. Non-constructs take 2d12 lightning damage if they end their turn in the cloud. The constructs run out of power after 3 turns.
Reactions

Unskippable Ad! Area Effect, 30ft, Magical. If Advertron is affected by silence, smothered, or otherwise made to be quiet while it is playing its jingle, it emits a powerful concussive blast. All magical effects within the radius are dispelled, and all targets in the area must make a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. The jingle starts over, and its turn count is reset. The jingle now plays at a much louder volume. All creatures within 120ft are otherwise deafened, take 2d6 thunder damage at the beginning of their turn, and the save DC is increased to 18.

Legendary Actions

And Now A Word From Our Sponsor! Legendary Jingle, Magical. At the beginning of its first turn in combat, Advertron begins playing the 18-second GnomeX jingle. The song isn't good. In fact, it's bad. Obnoxiously bad. It's so bad that it burrows its way into a victim's subconscious and stays there, kept alive by the creature's own loathing. All opponents able to hear Advertron must make an Intelligence saving throw, DC 15, in order to target any creature other than Advertron. As the jingle is a crass assault on the very concept of music, Bards must make this save at disadvantage. Anyone who hears Advertron's jingle is considered cursed, and will find themselves humming the jingle at inopportune moments until it is displaced by a more catchy song. This ability lasts three turns, and Advertron may take no actions or bonus actions while it is playing unless it is gathering coins.

Description

When inactive, Advertron is a nondescript metallic sphere. When operational, it is cloaked in a swirl of projected banner ads for GnomeX products and services, company logos, and densely-packed walls of Gnomish disclaimers. While it is capable of speech, it communicates only in marketing jargon, slogans, and eerily convincing sales pitches; and although it understands many languages, it cannot be bargained with, reasoned with, or pleaded to stop.
