Description

Lore:

Hemomancy is an ancient art of magic that, like necromancy, is seen as taboo by many people. Thus, hemomancers hide away from societies to practice the art of blood magic, often settling in environments rich in wildlife, like forests or jungles, to make sure not to run out of subjects. Blood Seekers were created by hemomancers to serve as servants and bring blood to their master. The ritual to create them was extremely risky and sometimes cost the creator's life. Even if the ritual were successful, the Blood Seekers could break free from their master's control and either run away or outright kill them. Now, most Blood Seekers live in deep and reclusive forests, feeding on the local mammals.

Appearance:

Blood Seekers are bipedal creatures. The average specimen is 6′5 feet tall and has a very muscular build, using strong arms and legs to run and climb trees with ease. Their most unique feature is their head, which is less of a head and more of a worm-like mouth with hundreds of sharp teeth. They have a tube-like tongue that they use to drink the blood of their prey. They have thick skins to protect them from harsh climates and other predators. The blood is very special; it has been altered to be acidic, making it dangerous to the touch.

 .

Behavior and Combat Tactics:

Blood Seekers are apex predators that rely on their high mobility to outmaneuver their prey. Their claw attacks can shred through hides without issue, and they have a particular nasty bite that they use to gain more vigor by sucking their victim's blood. If faced again a more dangerous foe, the Blood Seeker can spit his blood from his tongue to weaken his prey from afar and then move in for the kill. It is when the Blood Seeker has his back against the wall that his blood magic nature comes into play. A Blood Seeker's blood reacts to physical pain by expanding from the wound and solidifying,  making the Blood Seeker harder to damage further. It can also use its limited control over its own blood to try to block an incoming attack, provided that it is wounded. Some Blood Seekers can decide to damage themselves with their claws to gain access to their blood magic abilities.

Blood Seekers usually live alone or in groups of 3 to 4. Any more than that makes it difficult for them find enough blood to feed the whole pack.

Weakness:

A Blood Seeker can be very scary when wounded by slashing or piecing attacks. Avoiding these two damage types prevents it from using its blood magic to protect itself, making it much easier to deal with.

While they are amazing predators, they are still beasts with limited cognition. They struggle against saving throws that target intelligence or charisma.

The Blood Seeker relies heavily on their mobility to fight efficiently. Any abilities or conditions that impede or immobilize their movement make them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
