Nightmare Plague.
Any creature that completes a long rest within 60 feet of an Adult Mawborn must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or suffer vivid, mind-breaking dreams. On a failure, the creature gains one level of exhaustion and takes 7 (2d6) psychic damage.
If a creature gains exhaustion from this effect three nights in a row, they begin to hear Thar’Zul’s whispers while awake and must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw each dawn or be charmed by the Mawborn for 24 hours.
Fear Eater.
The Adult Mawborn deals an extra 1d8 psychic damage with melee attacks against frightened creatures and regains hit points equal to the psychic damage dealt.
Relentless Predator.
When the Mawborn drops a creature to 0 HP, it can move up to its speed and make one bite attack against another creature without spending an action.
Multiattack.
The Adult Mawborn makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 16 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) psychic damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 12 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Frightful Gaze (Recharge 5–6)
The Mawborn fixes its many, shifting eyes on up to two creatures it can see within 30 feet. Each target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Description
Where the Young Mawborn is wild and erratic, the Adult Mawborn is calculated and methodical. Its body is stretched and elongated, skin pulled tight over powerful sinew. Multiple lamprey-like maws gape along its arms and chest, constantly whispering in the voice of Thar’Zul.
Those who see it in the dark often mistake its many eyes for scattered fireflies — until they start to blink in unison.
An Adult Mawborn does not simply kill. It stalks, deprives its prey of rest, and seeds the infection that will create new hosts, spreading Thar’Zul’s influence like a living plague.
