Traits

Mutable Creation. When summoned, you may rearrange the skeleton's Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores, distributing up to an additional +3 ability score points among them (can't increase ability scores above 16). You must choose one modification frame:

Archer. Proficient with shortbows; +1 to ranged attack rolls.

Bruiser. Melee weapon attacks deal +1 damage.

Defender. AC increases by +1 and gains +2 HP per Hit Die.

Armoured & Armed. The skeleton can be equipped with any simple weapons, light armours, and shields the summoner provide.

Description

The rattling of bone against bone heralds the arrival of a necromancer’s most versatile servant. Unlike the brittle, mindless husks reanimated through crude magic, a Basic Skeleton is shaped with deliberate precision at the moment of its creation. Its frame is mutable, its joints reinforced or lightened at the caster’s whim, allowing it to be tailored to the role it is summoned to perform.

Bonecrafted Servants.

The process of creating a Basic Skeleton requires a more refined command of necromantic arts than raising an ordinary skeleton. The summoner’s magic moulds the bones into stronger limbs for brute force, more supple joints for agility, or denser ribcages for durability. Once formed, however, the structure becomes fixed — the skeleton cannot change its design until it is destroyed and re-summoned.

Tools of War.

Basic Skeletons are unique among undead in that they can be equipped and trained in the use of specific weapons and armour. This adaptability makes them invaluable for necromancers who require more than shambling fodder. With the right gear, a single Basic Skeleton can serve as a guard, archer, scout, or shock trooper.

Silent and Obedient.

While capable of understanding complex commands, a Basic Skeleton never speaks and shows no will of its own. Its movements are unnervingly precise, the product of its magically reinforced joints and bones, and it obeys its summoner with the same unwavering loyalty as any other undead. Its eerie silence and blank stare make it as unsettling to allies as to enemies.
