Legendary Resistance. (3/Day).If Aevyss fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Memory Eclipse. (Recharge 5-6). Aevyss exhales a shimmering mist in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or forget its last turn. On a failure, the creature loses its reaction and cannot use any ability it used last round until the end of its next turn.
Psychic Severance. (Recharge 6). Aevyss targets one creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must make a DC 20 Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, the creature forgets one prepared spell, ability, or bond (DM’s choice) for 1 minute.
Spellcasting. Aevyss is a 17th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 21, +13 to hit with spell attacks). Aevyss has following Sorcerer spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): Detect Thoughts, Minor Illusion, Thaumaturgy
1st level (4 slots): Shield, Mage Armor
2nd level (3 slots): Mirror Image, Misty Step
3rd level (3 slots): Counterspell, Dispel Magic
4th level (3 slots): Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer
5th level (2 slots): Synaptic Static, Wall of Force
6th level (1 slot): Disintegrate
7th level (1 slot): Plane Shift
8th level (1 slot): Power Word Stun
9th level (1 slot): Foresight
Starcut Blade. Aevyss’s tail is shaped like a celestial greatsword, forged from forgotten starlight. It cleaves through memory and magic alike, severing bonds both physical and metaphysical.
Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 24 (4d8 + 8) slashing damage plus 9 (2d8) radiant damage.
Astral Shift. Aevyss teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.
Temporal Parry. When hit by a melee attack, Aevyss can expend a legendary action to rewind time, forcing the attacker to reroll the attack with disadvantage.
Aevyss can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Aevyss regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Tail Slash. Aevyss makes one Starcut Blade melee attack.
Astral Shift. Aevyss teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.
Echo Pulse (Costs 2 Actions). Aevyss emits a psychic surge. Each creature within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Unwritten Sky. When Aevyss is reduced to 0 hit points, it does not die. Instead, it enters its mythic phase, regaining 200 hit points and triggering a surge of celestial memory. While in this phase, Aevyss gains advantage on all saving throws and resistance to all damage types until the end of its next turn. Mythic actions become available during this phase.
Memory Severance (Costs 2 Actions). Aevyss targets one creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 21 Charisma saving throw or lose one bond, ideal, or flaw (DM’s choice) for 1 hour. While affected, the creature cannot benefit from inspiration or divine guidance.
Description
Aevyss is a celestial dragon whose sword-shaped tail cuts through memory and fate. It speaks in riddles, forgets nothing, and remembers things that never were. Its presence distorts time, identity, and emotional truth. It is both terrifying and transcendent—a living paradox of forgotten divinity.
Lair and Lair Actions
Aevyss’s lair exists in a suspended fragment of forgotten reality—a drifting shard of sky where memory and gravity unravel. The terrain shifts subtly with each thought, and echoes of unspoken truths ripple across the horizon. Time folds in on itself, and even the stars seem uncertain of their place.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Aevyss takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; she can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Aevyss opens a rift of memory at a point it can see within 120 feet. Creatures within 20 feet of the rift must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of their next turn as forgotten moments flood their minds.
- Aevyss inverts gravity in a 60-foot radius centered on itself. Creatures and objects not anchored to the ground rise 30 feet, then fall at the start of the next round, taking falling damage as normal.
- Aevyss warps the flow of time. Until initiative count 20 on the next round, all creatures in the lair roll a d6 at the start of their turn. On a 1–2, they act normally. On a 3–4, they lose their action. On a 5–6, they gain an extra action.
Regional Effects
The region containing a legendary Aevyss’s lair is saturated with unstable memory and celestial distortion, which creates one or more of the following effects:
- Stars in the sky above the region flicker and rearrange nightly, forming constellations that reflect the dreams or regrets of nearby sentient creatures.
- Travelers within 10 miles of the lair occasionally forget their names, relationships, or purpose for 1d4 hours, as Aevyss’s influence erodes identity.
If Aevyss dies, these effects fade over the course of 3d6 days.
