Spider Climb. The spider pepper can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Corrosive Web Walker. While in contact with a web, the spider pepper knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web. It may use its action to set the web on fire, causing objects to catch on fire.
Web Walker. The spider pepper ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 1 piercing damage plus 2 (1d4) fire damage. The target must succeed a DC 9 Constitution saving throw or take the fire damage.
Description
FIELD DESIGNATION: Webper
BEHAVIOR: Stalks its prey, willing to wait for anything
NOTABLE DIFFERENCES: Growth of four legs, peduncle loosens from fruit (poisonous fangs hide here), tiny set of eyes grow on the body of fruit. The pepper’s color changes to a dark purple.
RECOMMENDED MITIGATION: Active pruning, nets
While some of the awakened peppers are merely passive unless attacked, unfortunately the Webper variant will always attempt to kill you. Its seed core melts into an acrid pool of poison that sits inside of the pepper. The poison is siphoned into its fangs, being dispersed through them when they bite you. Unlike traditional poison, it simply burns the skin, leading to blisters in the worst-case scenario.
Morrow’s Note: Its caustic brew can be used as an ingredient in the creation of a Pale Tincture mix. As I’m sure the reader is aware, you should not be creating poisons in any but the academic field.
Tannin’s Note: We do not recommend eating the non-awakened form of this pepper if you are naturally afraid of spiders. During Morrow’s culinary testing, he spent a week waking up to freshly made spider webs atop his sleeping sack. Though useful for gathering spider silk, it's very gross if you don’t enjoy spiders.
