Description
-
Appearance:
A Young Void Dragon’s body is sheathed in scales that look less like flesh and more like a living night sky. Stars shimmer faintly across its hide, and its wings stretch like curtains of shadow speckled with starlight. Its eyes are fathomless pits — like staring into a black hole — and staring too long at them gives a sense of vertigo, as if being pulled inward. When it moves, there’s a subtle delay in sound and perception, as though reality itself lags behind its body. -
Aura:
Being near the dragon makes mortals uneasy. Voices echo strangely, footsteps sound delayed, and thoughts feel “borrowed.” Its presence isn’t fiery or oppressive like a red dragon — it’s quiet, the kind of silence that makes the hairs rise on your neck. -
Personality:
A Young Void Dragon has outgrown the confused curiosity of a wyrmling and now hungers to understand and dominate. It is calculating, often observing intruders before striking. It speaks rarely with words, preferring telepathic whispers that intrude into the minds of its prey. When it does speak aloud, its voice is hollow, layered, as if multiple beings are speaking slightly out of sync. -
Behavior:
It hunts by stalking the edges of perception, using its Voidstep and Telekinetic Grip to isolate enemies. It prefers psychological domination over brute force, reveling in watching mortals falter against fear and madness. Unlike chromatic dragons, it isn’t driven by greed for wealth — instead, it hoards arcane knowledge, planar relics, and fragments of forbidden lore. -
Lair Preference:
Young Void Dragons tend to nest in abandoned ruins, deep planar rifts, or caverns where planar boundaries are thin. The air is unnaturally still around their lairs, and light bends strangely, casting shadows that move against the flame. Mortals often report hearing whispers in languages they don’t know when nearing such places.
Lair and Lair Actions
-
Planar rifts, abandoned ruins, or deep caverns.
-
Subtle void effects: whispers, warped shadows, dimmed light.
