Description
-
Appearance:
The Adult Void Dragon is a terrifying vision of the cosmos made flesh. Its scales shimmer with the void itself — deep black with flecks of starlight that seem to vanish when looked at directly. Its wings stretch wide, almost translucent, like a torn night sky. Its eyes are bottomless abysses; staring into them creates a faint vertigo, as if the world is stretching into nothing. Its claws and fangs are blackened steel with faintly glowing edges, seeming to devour light. -
Aura:
Being near the dragon warps perception. Sounds arrive out of sync, shadows crawl unnaturally, and even magic seems to flicker. Mortals often describe the feeling as “gravity pulling at your soul.” The aura is oppressive yet strangely silent — it’s not fiery intimidation, it’s the absence of reality itself. -
Personality:
Calculating, cold, and infinitely patient, the Adult Void Dragon is obsessed with control and understanding the fabric of existence. It speaks rarely, usually through telepathy, and when it does speak aloud its voice is layered and dissonant, as if multiple echoes of itself speak at once. It values knowledge and power over gold, hoarding planar relics, arcane secrets, and artifacts of impossible origin. -
Behavior:
The dragon hunts strategically, using Void Step, Void Breath, and telekinetic manipulations to isolate and dominate opponents. It prefers mental and environmental warfare over direct melee unless it can end the fight quickly. Unlike younger dragons, it rarely leaves its lair unprotected, instead sending illusions, void-tendrils, or warped shadows to deal with intruders. -
Lair Preference:
The adult has an established lair in places where reality is thin or unstable: planar rifts, abandoned ruins spanning planes, collapsed citadels in the Astral Plane, or deep Underdark caverns with planar fissures. Its lair distorts space and light; gravity shifts, whispers echo, and darkness bends unnaturally. The lair itself becomes a weapon, shaping the battlefield to the dragon’s will. -
Behavioral Quirks:
-
Often drifts partially out of phase with the Material Plane, vanishing briefly to the eyes of mortals.
-
Obsessed with observing creatures’ minds before deciding whether to act — rarely strikes first unless provoked.
-
Reacts violently to planar intrusions or disturbances in reality near its lair.
-
