Traits

Stance Change. The automaton can use its action to change from a bipedal, humanoid form to a quadrupedal, animal-like form. Its statistics, other than its speed, are the same in each form.

Antimagic Susceptibility. The automaton is incapacitated while in an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the automaton must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster’s spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.

Constructed Nature. The automaton regains 5 (2d4) hit points if the mending spell is cast on it.

Actions

Rend (quadrupedal only). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) slashing damage plus 2 (1d4) lightning damage.

Static Touch (bipedal only). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d8) lightning damage. The attack is made with advantage if the target is wearing metal armor.

Bonus Actions

Assistance. The automaton can use the Help action as a bonus action.

Stun Lock (1/day). When the automaton hits a target, it can force the target to make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target is stunned until the end of the automaton’s next turn.

Reactions

Snap and Pin (quadrupedal only). If the automaton makes an opportunity attack and hits a target, that target’s speed is reduced to 0 until the start of its next turn.

Description

Rolling around on wheeled legs, this construct possesses no visible weapons. But with a command from its creator, its wheels retreat into its body, and a maw of razor-sharp blades emerge from its mouth as it drops onto four limbs and charges its target, murder in its eyes as sparks fly off its metal frame.

Stalwart Defenders. Wayfinder engineers create these automatons to serve as the company’s pet and assist in battle. Their loyalty is to the engineer who created them, but they will obey commands from other individuals as instructed.

Stance Change. Each automaton possesses two forms: one is a small, three-foot-tall humanoid form that rolls around on two wheels, and the other is a quadrupedal form often shaped like an animal. Wolves and mountain lions are the most common forms, but some have seen them as rabbits and rodents.
