Traits

Humanoid Wreath. The humanoid figures thrashing from its neck grant the Asudem bonuses while a number are active. While at least three quarters of the figures are active, the Asudem can use Shield of Flesh. While at least half of the figures are active, the Asudem has resistance to ranged weapon and spell damage. While at least a quarter of the figures are active the Asudem can use Humanoid Grasp.

Every four ranged attacks that land destroy roughly a quarter of these figures.

Actions

Multiattack. The Asudem makes two attacks: one Bite and one Humanoid Grasp.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d8 + 2) piercing damage. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or take 7 (2d6) poison damage.

Humanoid Grasp. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 13). While grappled this way, the creature is restrained.

Shield of Flesh (Recharge 5–6). The humanoid figures knit together defensively. Until the start of its next turn, the Asudem has three-quarters cover from ranged attacks and spells and a +2 to its AC against melee attacks.

Bonus Actions

Eerie Mimicry. As a bonus action, the humanoid figures scream distorted imitations of voices of its past victims. One creature of the Asudem’s choice within 60 feet that can hear it must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of its next turn.

Reactions

Grasping Figures. When a creature within 10 feet of the Asudem misses it with a melee attack, the Asudem can use its reaction to make a Humanoid Grasp attack against that creature.

Description

An incredibly large, intimidating snake-like creature with several humanoid figures swaying as it moves through its territory, using them as bait. Reported bands of undead may actually be an Asudem.
