Multiattack. Beron makes three Spear attacks. It can replace one attack with a use of Shield Bash.
Spear. Melee or Ranged Attack Roll: +7, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) Piercing damage.
Shield Bash. Strength Saving Throw: DC 15, one creature within 5 feet that Beron can see. Failure: 9 (2d4 + 4) Bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it has the Prone condition.
Parry. Trigger: Beron is hit by a melee attack roll while holding a weapon. Response: Beron adds 3 to its AC against that attack, possibly causing it to miss.
Intimidating Resolve. Trigger: Beron is hit by an unarmed strike or by an attack that deals bludgeoning damage while he is conscious.
Response: Through sheer force of will, Beron shrugs off the blow and refuses to falter. He ignores any effect of the attack that would knock him prone, stagger him, or otherwise impair his stance. Instead, he steps toward his attacker with a grim, unwavering stare.
The attacker must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become intimidated until the end of its next turn. While intimidated in this way, the creature can take only movement and reactions on its turn, not actions.
Description
Beron carries the nickname "the Grim" because he rarely smiles and his eyes are usually drawn into a stern frown. Those who know him, however, will notice that he does have a sense of humor and a good heart. Still, it's clear he can live up to his name when needed. He holds the rank of Frostwarden and is responsible for training new Rune Warriors. It's said that he reliably guides his recruits through their training and shapes them into capable fighters.
Beron is approaching sixty, but years of training have kept him in good shape. He’s no longer the fastest, and his reflexes have dulled somewhat, yet his experience more than makes up for it. More than one recruit has overestimated themselves and found themselves on the ground faster than expected.
