Amphibious. Vaerishrys can breathe air and water.
Corrupting Presence. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 ft. of Vaerishrys must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of its next turn. Creatures that succeed are immune for 24 hours.
Forest’s Grip (Recharge 5–6). Once per short rest, Vaerishrys can command the blighted flora of the River Heart. All terrain within 60 ft. becomes difficult terrain as roots, vines, and thorned branches erupt. Each enemy creature that starts its turn in this area must succeed on a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be restrained until the start of its next turn.
Multiattack. Vaerishrys makes three Rend attacks. It can replace one attack with a use of Spellcasting to cast Mind Spike (level 3 version).
Rend. Melee Attack Roll: +11, reach 10 ft. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) Slashing damage plus 7 (2d6) Poison damage.
Tail. Melee Attack Roll: +11, reach 10 ft. Hit: (2d8 + 6) Bludgeoning damage.
Poison Breath (Recharge 5–6). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 19, each creature in a 60-foot Cone. Failure: (16d6) Poison damage. Success: Half damage.
Spellcasting. Vaerishrys casts one of the following spells, requiring no Material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 17):

1/Day: Geas
Legendary Action Uses: 3 (4 in Lair). Immediately after another creature’s turn, the dragon can expend a use to take one of the following actions. The dragon regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.
Detect. Vaerishrys makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Tail Attack. Vaerishrys makes a tail attack.
Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). Vaerishrys beats her wings. Each creature within 10 ft. of her must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw or take (2d6 + 6) Bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. She can then fly up to half her flying speed.
Corrupting Whisper (Costs 2 Actions). Vaerishrys targets one creature within 60 ft. that can hear her. The creature must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by her until the end of its next turn.

Lair Actions
When fighting inside her lair (the ruined obsidian citadel), Vaerishrys can invoke the corrupted River Heart magic. On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), she can use one of the following effects:

Blighted Vines. Grasping, thorny roots erupt in a 20-foot radius centered on a point Vaerishrys can see within 120 ft. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be restrained until the start of the next round.

Toxic Haze. A 30-foot radius cloud of poisonous mist fills an area Vaerishrys chooses within 120 ft. The area is heavily obscured, and any creature that starts its turn there must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or take 10 (3d6) poison damage.

Illusory Double. Vaerishrys creates an illusory duplicate of herself that lasts until initiative count 20 of the next round. Attacks against the duplicate automatically miss, but creatures must succeed on a DC 17 Investigation check to realize it is not real.
