Flight orb. Though wingless, shen lungs can fly magically due to a magic yellow pearl embedded in their brains. If removed from the dragon, this pearl loses its magic but is still worth 1,000 gp. The dragon can cease or resume flight as a free action.
Scaly command (3/day). Each scaly creature (reptiles or fish but not other dragons) within 25ft of the shen lung are instantly charmed by the shen lung until the creature leaves the 25ft area around the shen lung. A shen lung can speak with any creature charmed by them by this power even if they don't share a language.
Vermin barrier. No creature that is considered vermin can enter within 60ft of the shen lung giant or otherwise they can't enter the radius willingly.
Water fire. When a adult shen lung is fully submerged in water it gains an aura of ghostly fire which causes any creature to touch or make a melee attack against the shen lung to take 9 (3d6) damage. Other creatures with the water fire ability are immune to this damage.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The shen lung has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Amphibious. The shen lung can breathe air and water.
Detect thoughts. The shen lung is constantly detecting the thoughts of creatures within 20ft of them. See the spell of the same name if a creature attempts to resist.
Alternate form. Lung dragons can assume any humanoid form of Small to Large size as a standard action. This ability is similar to the polymorph spell but allows only humanoid forms. Whilst in this form they have advantage on all checks to hide their true self.
Innate Spellcasting. The adult shen lung's innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 18). The adult shen lung can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: bane, bless, invisibility, plane shift
3/day: ice storm
Multi attack. The shen lung uses its frightful presence, makes one bite and two claw attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 17 (3d6 + 8) Piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 12 (1d8 + 8) slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 30 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (1d12 + 8) piercing or slashing damage.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon’s choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.
Vermin wave (Costs 2 Actions). A vermin start to run away from the shen lung in all directions each creature within a 40ft radius of the shen lung that isn't an insectiod must make a dc 18 Dexterity saving throw or be poisoned for 1d4 rounds, have their speed half and disadvantage on attack rolls until the end of the shen lung's next turn.
Description
They resembled pan lung in appearance but were shorter and thicker. As hatchling they had dull scales that were either blue, green, orange or red. Sometimes polychromatic. As they aged, a shen lungs scaled brightened. A shen lung had ridges along its back, a spiked tail and two horns atop its head. Their gold-colored whiskers featured prominently on their snout.
Unlike most dragons, shen lung were modest. They maintained cordial relationships with nature spirits. Most shen lung would take human form to observe human life in villages, as they were fascinated by humans. Humans in Kara-tur regarded shen lung as messengers from the gods and a source of good luck, often constructing shrines and temples, and held ceremonies to gain favour of a local shen lung.
Within the Celestial Bureaucracy, Shen lung were assigned to act as guards and assistants to chiang lung and took this duty very seriously
