Mindless Defiance. The Bone Gnasher has advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. It also adds +6 to any saving throw specifically against mind-influencing effects.
Pack Stalker (1-8). While the Bone Gnasher is within 10 feet of at least one ally, it has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that has not taken a turn in combat yet.
Multiattack. The Bone Gnasher makes two attacks: one with its Bite and one with its Claw when engaging prey larger than itself.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is below half its hit point maximum, it must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone by the force of the bite.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage. On a hit, the target’s armor or clothing is shredded, imposing disadvantage on its next stealth check until it repairs or replaces the ripped gear.
Description
A gaunt, small quadruped no larger than a mastiff, the Bone Gnasher’s skin stretches tight over its protruding ribs, which rattle like dry bones when it moves. Its hollow, obsidian eye sockets gleam with ravenous intent, and tufts of ragged fur flecked with phosphorescent bone dust trail along its spine. In dim light, faint whispering echoes from its cracked maw, unnerving prey before the pack descends.
Lore. Once believed hunted to extinction, Bone Gnashers slipped into the sealed catacombs beneath ancient cities. Feeding on corpses and the fallen, they developed eerie pack coordination. Sightings in daylight send shivers through even seasoned hunters, for only by eradicating every member can their bloodthirsty ranks be scattered.
