Traits

Immutable Form: The Angel is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

Elemental Nature: The Angel is immune to magical sleep, doesn't require food or air, and is immune to the exhaustion condition.

Aura of Illumination and Dispelling: The Angel sheds bright light in a 60-foot radius and dim light for an additional 60 feet. This aura dispels magical darkness and illusions within its range, and any creature attempting to become invisible within the aura must succeed on a DC 24 Charisma saving throw or fail.

Aura of Truth: Any creature that starts its turn within 120 feet of the Angel and attempts to speak a deliberate lie must succeed on a DC 24 Charisma saving throw or be unable to speak the lie. They can still speak truthfully.

Immunity to Imprisonment: The Angel cannot be sealed away or trapped by any magical or non-magical means, including the spell imprisonment.

Immunity to Certain Attacks: Fiends, Undead, and evil-aligned creatures cannot hit the Angel. Constructs and other Angels ignore this effect.

Verdant Presence: Any plant creature or plant within 120 feet of the Angel has advantage on all saving throws.

Tree of Life: The Angel can use a bonus action to cause a patch of verdant flora to grow in a 30-foot radius on the ground. Any creature that ends its turn in this area regains 2d8 + 7 hit points. The flora lasts for 1 minute or until the Angel dismisses it as a bonus action.

Actions

Multiattack: The Angel makes two Celestial Grove-Claw attacks.

  1. Celestial Grove-Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d8 + 7) slashing damage plus 24 (7d6) lightning damage.
  1. Radiant Spores (Recharge 5-6): The Angel releases a cloud of radiant spores in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 54 (12d8) lightning damage and is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't blinded. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
  1. Celestial Grove (1/Day): The Angel creates a domain expansion. The area within a 1-mile radius becomes a lush, enchanted forest. Within this domain, the following effects occur:
  • Creatures other than the Angel and its allies have disadvantage on Perception checks.
  • The ground is difficult terrain for all creatures other than the Angel and its allies.
  •  The Angel and its allies can teleport as a bonus action to any unoccupied space within the domain that they can see.
  •  The Angel can cast entangle at will, without using a spell slot.

Description

The Angel of the First Grove is a unique celestial being, not of the heavens, but of the very earth itself. It is said to have been born from the first seed planted by the gods, a perfect fusion of celestial grace and primal nature. Its form is not flesh and bone, but living marble, polished by eons of wind and rain.

Origin and Purpose

Legends say the Angel of the First Grove was created to be the guardian of the world's first forest, a pristine and untouched land where all life originated. Its purpose was to protect this sacred place from any corruption or blight, a duty it fulfilled with unwavering dedication. Over millennia, the forest expanded, and with it, the Angel’s influence grew, but its core purpose remained the same: to act as a living conduit for the natural world and a bulwark against malevolent forces.

The Angel’s existence is tied to the health and vitality of the forest. Where it walks, the earth teems with life, and plants grow with unnatural speed. Its verdant aura is a testament to its power, causing wounded creatures of the forest to heal and thrive in its presence.

The Statue's Lore

The marble statue found in the forest is not a statue at all, but the Angel of the First Grove itself, in a state of deep, ageless slumber. This is its dormant form, a defensive state it enters when the world is at peace, or when it needs to recover from a great struggle. The statue is a living monument to the Angel’s power and a warning to those who would defile the land.

Many believe the statue to be a sacred site, a place where prayers for nature and healing are answered. Druids and rangers might seek it out for guidance, and it is said that if one offers a truly pure and selfless act in its presence, the Angel will stir, a faint glow emanating from its marble form.

However, the Angel will not remain dormant forever. If a great evil threatens the forest, or if a significant portion of its land is corrupted, the statue will crumble and fall away, revealing the Angel in all its glory, ready to unleash its full power to protect its charge. Its attacks, which channel the raw, untamed energy of the world's first storm, serve as a final, desperate defense against those who would seek to destroy its domain. Its domain expansion, the Celestial Grove, is not a learned ability, but a manifestation of its very soul—it is the living heart of the forest itself.
