Traits

Water Breathing. Aquatic piercers have adapted to breathe underwater.

Drop. The piercer falls. Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 11, one creature directly underneath the piercer. Failure: The target is impaled and takes 10 (3d6) Piercing damage. Failure or Success: The piercer reduces any damage it takes from the fall by 20.

Impaled. The creature gets advantage on bite attacks against a victim it has impaled with its drop attack. While the creature is impaled, the victim has a 10ft movement speed penalty and the piercer moves with the victim, sharing his or her space.

Drill. The creature swims at least 15ft, spinning like a drill bit as it moves at alarming speed. Melee Attack Roll: +3, reach 5 ft. Hit: 9 (2d6+ 3) Piercing damage.

 

Description

Aquatic Piercers have adapted to under water conditions, having small crablike legs upon which they scuttle. When submerged, they spin their bodies in a drill like manner, able to swim at alarming speeds. They have been known to lurk on the ceilings of caverns with underground lakes and rivers, where they pose a threat even when they miss impaling their prey from above, drilling through the hulls of boats unfortunate enough to venture into their lair.
