Traits

False Appearance. While the am-bush remains motionless it is nearly indistinguishable from a normal bush. Because of this, its' initial attack is almost always with surprise.

Actions

Grapple. Melee Attack Roll: +4, reach 5 ft. Hit: 11 (2d4 + 2) Piercing damage. If it hits, the victim must make a DC 12 STR check or be grappled and automatically take (2d4 + 2) piercing damage at the start of each round until they break free.

Thorn Whip. Ranged Attack Roll: +2, range 30 ft. Hit: 11 (2d4 + 2) Piercing damage. If the creature is Medium or smaller, you pull the creature up to 10 feet closer to you if they fail a DC 12 STR check.

Description

Am-Bushes are animated plant creatures that resemble a large bush when at rest; in that state they are nearly indistinguishable from a natural bush without closer examination. When they move around, they assume a vaguely bearlike shape with root masses instead of paws. They attack with thorny vines and attempt to kill any prey that gets close enough. Am-Bushes which are domesticated or rendered docile can be trained to guard an area, but there is a standard bounty awarded for killing wild Am-Bushes.
