Traits

Steady. The gryphon has advantage on ability checks and saving throws against being knocked prone.

Keen Sight. The gryphon has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Swoop. If the gryphon flies more than 20 feet in a straight line toward its target and then hits them with a Claw attack on the same turn, the target is grappled (escape DC 15). While the target is grappled in this way, the gryphon has advantage on Beak attacks against the target but can’t make Claw attacks. Grappling a Medium or smaller creature imposes no penalty on the gryphon’s speed.

Divine Blessing. The gryphon's attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity. The gryphon has a bonus to its Armor Class equal to its master's Charisma modifier (as determined by the Find Greater Steed spell).

Actions

Multiattack. The gryphon makes one Beak attack and two Claw attacks.

Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) radiant damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

Rend. Melee Attack Roll: +6, reach 5 ft. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) Piercing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it has the Grappled condition (escape DC 14) from both of the griffon’s front claws.

Piercing Cry (Recharge 5-6). The gryphon lets out an earsplitting, divine screech. Each enemy within 60 feet of the gryphon who can hear it must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of the gryphon for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for them, they are immune to the Piercing Cry of all gryphons for the next 24 hours.

Description

Bahamut's Sentinel Gryphon

Summoned by a paladin of the Platinum Dragon, this rare breed of gryphon is not a mere beast, but a creature of divine will and grace. It embodies the vigilance of Bahamut, combining the physical might of a predator with the serenity and noble purpose of a celestial being. Its very presence is a symbol of justice and protection, a flying bulwark against evil.

Appearance

This gryphon's plumage and fur are not the typical brown and gold of its kin, but a shimmering, metallic white, with a faint platinum sheen that reflects the light like polished silver. Its eagle head is noble, with a powerful beak and eyes that glow with the soft, blue-white light of a star. Its lion body is muscular and sleek, covered in soft fur that feels like fine silk. At times, a faint, almost imperceptible aura of shimmering light surrounds it, a silent testament to its divine origin. Unlike other gryphons, its talons and beak seem to be made of solid, glowing silver.

Personality and Attitude

Born of a divine summons, this gryphon possesses a mind far beyond that of a normal beast. It is highly intelligent and has the deep wisdom of a celestial. It's fiercely loyal to its paladin and will follow their commands without question, even if they put it in danger. However, it is not a blind servant; it will use its own cunning and battle acumen to protect its rider and fight for justice. It possesses a calm, watchful demeanor and a deep-seated hatred for all things evil, especially followers of Tiamat.
