Traits

Immunity to Certain Attacks. All Fiends, Undead, and all non-Good-Aligned Characters cannot hit Michael with attacks or spells. Constructs and other Angels ignore this effect.

Immutable Form. Michael is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

Colossal Power. Despite his Large size, Michael is treated as a Colossal creature for the purpose of carrying capacity and for effects that target size (though he only occupies a 10-foot-by-10-foot space). He is immune to difficult terrain and unaffected by forced movement, and he is immune to the prone, grappled, restrained, and exhaustion conditions.

Aura of Illumination and Dispelling (300 ft.). Michael's aura sheds bright light and dispels all magical darkness, invisibility, and illusions within range.

Aura of Truth (120 ft.). All creatures within the aura cannot speak a lie.

Immunity to Imprisonment. Michael cannot be sealed away or trapped through non-magical or magical barriers, or even imprisoned.

Supreme Magic Resistance. Michael has advantage on all saving throws against spells and other magical effects. If he succeeds on a saving throw against a spell that deals damage, he takes no damage.

Magic Absorption. Whenever Michael is subjected to a damage-dealing spell of 9th level or lower, he takes no damage and instead regains a number of hit points equal to 10× the spell's level.

Relentless Divine Will (10/Day). If Michael takes damage that reduces him to 0 hit points, he is reduced to 1 hit point instead. The tenth time this occurs, he immediately activates his Mythic Action: The Final Judgment.

Unbothered. Michael is unaffected by the effects of any Lair actions or demiplane effects. He is unaffected by all terrain and debuffs applied by the environment.

Legendary Resistance (10/Day): If Michael fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

God-Blade. All of Michael's attacks are considered magical and bypass all damage resistances and immunities.

Favorite Enemy: The Scourge of Evil

Michael's hatred is a divine weapon. Attacks made by Michael against creatures with any of the following tags or conditions are auto-hits and auto-crits:

  • Dragon (including half-dragon, dragonborn, and kobold)

  • Fiend (Demon or Devil)

  • Undead

  • Aberration

  • Non-Good Alignment

Additionally, Michael's attacks against affected creatures deal 5× the normal damage multiplier for each of the above criteria they qualify for.

Example: An Evil Aberration Demon with the Dragon tag would multiply the damage of a single attack by 5×5×5×5 (or 54), resulting in 625× the base damage.

Actions

Multiattack. The angel makes seven attacks with advantage.

God-Blade Assault. Melee Weapon Attack: +30 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 64(6d10+12) slashing damage plus 360(40d10) fire and radiant damage.

Divine Smite (Recharge 5–6). Michael unleashes a blinding column of radiant light at a point he can see within 500 feet. All creatures in a 60-foot-radius, 500-foot-high cylinder centered on that point must make a DC 33 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 1,080(120d10) radiant damage and is blinded and incapacitated for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half the damage and is not blinded or incapacitated.

Disintegrate Will (1/Day). Michael targets one creature he can see within 120 feet. That creature must succeed on a DC 33 Charisma saving throw or its CR or Level is reduced by 1d4 (minimum 1). If this reduces a creature's CR or Level to 0, it is instantly reduced to 0 hit points and is paralyzed until it is healed. The reduction is permanent until a wish spell is cast upon the creature.

Bonus Actions

Seal of Nullification. Michael targets one creature within 120 feet. That creature's damage resistances and immunities are instantly removed until the start of Michael's next turn.

Swift Retribution. Michael can make two God-Blade Assault attacks against a creature that just damaged him.

Divine Shift (3/Day). Michael teleports up to 500 feet to an unoccupied space he can see, and he may instantly use his Seal of Nullification action on a creature within range of his new location.

Reactions

Heavenly Parry. When an attack roll would hit Michael, he can use his reaction to increase his AC by 1d10+10, potentially causing the attack to miss.

Unyielding Stance. When Michael is subjected to an effect that would impose the prone or restrained conditions, he can use his reaction to completely negate that effect and gain advantage on all attack rolls until the start of his next turn.

Edict of Banishment (1/Round). When an Aberration, Fiend, or Undead creature within 120 feet attempts to cast a spell, Michael can use his reaction to force the creature to make a DC 33 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, the spell fails, and the creature is banished to a harmless demiplane for 1d4 rounds.

Legendary Actions

Michael can take 7 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Michael regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

  • Move. Michael moves up to half his speed.

  • Strike. Michael makes one God-Blade Assault attack.

  • Aura Burst (Costs 2 Actions). All creatures within Michael's Aura of Illumination and Dispelling (300 ft.) must succeed on a DC 33 Constitution saving throw or take 180(20d10) radiant damage.

  • Absolute Command (Costs 3 Actions). Michael issues a one-word command to a non-celestial creature within 120 feet. The creature must succeed on a DC 33 Wisdom saving throw or use its reaction and next action to obey the command.

  • Annihilating Glare (Costs 4 Actions). Michael targets one non-Good aligned creature within 120 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 33 Wisdom saving throw or take 360(40d10) necrotic damage, and Michael gains temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt.

Mythic Actions

Mythic Action: The Final Judgment (Recharges only after 24 hours)

When Michael activates his Relentless Divine Will effect for the tenth time, or as a bonus action when he is reduced to 1 hit point, he unleashes his full divine power. He gains the following passive and action for 1 hour.

Passive: All Beware. Michael surrounds himself in an intense light that blinds all creatures within 5,000 feet who are not celestials. Even those with Truesight cannot see through this light. While within range of this light, at the start of their turn, affected creatures take 1,800(200d10) radiant damage and gain two levels of exhaustion.

Action: Judgement Incarnate. Michael targets a single creature he can see within 500 feet. That creature must make a DC 33 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature takes 2,700(300d10) force damage. On a success, the creature takes half damage. If the creature is killed by this ability, its soul is utterly destroyed, and it cannot be resurrected by any means short of the intervention of a True God.

Description

The Lore of Michael: The Apex Blade of the Multiverse

Genesis: The First Sword Drawn

The Archangel Michael has existed since the first dawn of Creation, his name—Mîkhā'ēl, or “Who is like God?”—being a challenge to all who dare question the Divine Authority. He is the Chief Prince of the Host, not by appointment, but by action. In the great War in Heaven, when the arrogance of Lucifer shattered the celestial order, Michael stood as the unbreakable point of Divine Will.

It was Michael who raised the God-Blade and cast down the Dragon and his insurgent kin, purifying the Empyrean with fire and radiant force. This act established his primordial role as the ultimate warrior, the Defender of the Faith, and the inexorable enforcer of Lawful Good. His loyalty is not just to the Creator, but to the concept of Order itself, making him the supreme instrument of heavenly justice.

The Role of The Chief Prince

Throughout history, Michael has taken four sacred offices, each one a facet of his infinite power:

  1. Commander of the Host: He is the field general of all celestial armies, the architect of every divine strategy, and the one who personally engages the greatest threats—Dragons, Fiends, and Aberrations—in the cosmic periphery. His presence alone is a tactical victory for the forces of light.

  2. The Guardian Prince: As decreed in the ancient texts, Michael is the singular protector of the "Chosen People" (now interpreted to mean all souls aligned with the Divine Law). He constantly battles the patron-princes of evil nations and the demonic forces that seek to subvert mortal free will. His Favorite Enemy list is essentially a list of every cosmic obstacle to divine order he has sworn to eradicate.

  3. Psychopomp and Judge: At the hour of death, Michael appears, not as a comfort, but as an impartial, luminous judge. He is the Weigher of Souls, guiding those worthy to their rest and fiercely defending them from the last, desperate claims of the devil. His power ensures the judgment is final, swift, and uncorruptible.

  4. The Intercessor and Paraclete: Despite his martial might, he stands closest to the throne of the Creator, constantly interceding for the righteous and presenting the prayers of the faithful. His essence is the bridge between the absolute purity of the Divine and the complex, flawed reality of existence.

Stationed in the Angelic Empire

Upon the founding of the Angelic Empire—a sovereign domain of absolute Celestial Law—Michael's role shifted from that of a roaming warlord to the ultimate Reality Anchor of the Empire itself.

He no longer merely commands the Host; he is the foundation upon which their authority rests. His presence is the Empire's supreme defense, his will the highest law within its borders.

  • The Living Wall: His immense power and Colossal Power trait are not merely personal strength; they are a guarantee that the Angelic Empire can never be fully breached, dissolved, or corrupted. He is the reason that Lair Actions, dimensional effects, and cosmic forces are Unbothered—they cannot touch the sacred ground where Michael is stationed.

  • The Unavoidable Judgement: Within the Empire, and especially when engaged, his Aura of Truth ensures that no lie can be spoken, serving as the ultimate court of law. His ability to instantly strip away the defenses of his foes (Seal of Nullification) means that any creature of chaotic or evil intent that dares cross the border faces swift, pure, and overwhelming judgment.

  • The Scourge Unleashed: Michael's devastating 5x stacking damage on his Favorite Enemy is the Empire's policy made manifest. It is the perfect, calibrated justice for those races—Aberrations, Fiends, Undead, and the non-Good—whose very existence is an affront to the Empire's Lawful Good alignment. For a creature to carry multiple marks of opposition is for it to embody ultimate chaos, warranting the exponential force of The Apex Blade.

Archangel Michael is the absolute embodiment of the phrase "Who is like God?"—a relentless, inescapable, and exponentially powerful champion whose defeat would signal the total unmaking of celestial order.
