Description

Adult orange dragons command seaside kingdoms, which might be territories of those it treads underfoot, willing merfolk, or even worshippers. Pompously striding amongst its subjects, an orange dragon seeks only to disrupt the societies it chooses to live around -- for why should it bow to those inferior to it?

Resembling massive rust-colored crocodiles with billowing wings, the orange dragon is majestic, and it knows this. It delights in inflicting pain and terror for sport, and is highly politically cunning.

Lair and Lair Actions

Fiercely territorial, orange dragons have been known to fight off black, blue, or occasionally even white dragons for control of a particular river or lake.

The region containing an adult or ancient orange dragon’s lair is changed by its presence, creating the following effects:

Hazy Mists. The area surrounding the lair for 1 mile is warped and shifting constantly, as if the dragon has cast Hallucinatory Terrain on it. Creatures have Disadvantage on the Study action when attempting to discover the illusion.

Aquatic Speech. The dragon can telepathically speak to all Beasts with a Swimming speed within 1 mile of the lair, and can issue commands to them if the Beast is not hostile to it.

If the dragon dies or moves its lair elsewhere, these effects end immediately.
