Traits

Aura of Stillness (120 ft.). Enemies that start their turn within the aura must succeed on a DC 25 Strength save or have their speed halved until the end of their next turn. Allies within the aura gain advantage on saving throws against being pushed, knocked prone, or moved.

Living Mountain. Stein can move through solid rock and earth as if it were air, leaving no tunnel or mark. While in contact with the ground, he cannot be knocked prone or forced to move against his will.

Eternal Bastion. When Stein takes 50 or fewer damage from a single attack, the damage is reduced to 0.

Foundation’s Blessing. Any Stone Giant allied with Stein within 1 mile gains +2 AC and advantage on saving throws against spells.

Legendary Resistance (5/Day). If Stein fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Stein has advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects.

Actions

Multiattack. Stein makes three attacks with his Earthshaper Hammer or one attack with Terraquake.

Earthshaper Hammer. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target.
Hit: 45 (6d10+10) bludgeoning damage plus 21 (6d6) force damage. On a failed DC 26 Strength save, the target is knocked prone.

Terraquake (Recharge 5–6). Stein slams the ground, triggering a massive shockwave in a 120 ft. radius. Each creature must make a DC 26 Dexterity save or take 91 (26d6) bludgeoning and force damage, and be knocked prone. Structures take double damage.

Crumbling Judgment. Stein targets a creature within 60 ft. Stone bursts from the ground, encasing the target. The creature must succeed on a DC 25 Strength save or be restrained in stone until the end of its next turn.

Legendary Actions

Stein can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below:

  1. Stone Grasp. A massive stone hand erupts beneath a creature within 60 ft. It must succeed on a DC 25 Strength save or be grappled (escape DC 25).

  2. Stalwart Blow. Stein makes a weapon attack.

  3. Stone Surge (Costs 2). Jagged pillars of rock erupt in a 20 ft. radius anywhere within 120 ft. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 25 Dex save or take 35 (10d6) piercing damage and be restrained.

Mythic Actions

Mythic Trait — World Pillar Awakened

When Stein is reduced to 0 HP, the ground splits open, and he merges with the Elemental Plane of Earth itself. He regains 500 HP, becomes the living core of the battlefield, and gains the following effects:

  • The battlefield becomes difficult terrain of shifting stone for all but him.

  • His AC increases to 28.

  • He can make an additional legendary action each round.

  • On initiative count 20, he may summon a Stone Titan (CR 22) to aid him.

Description

Lore

Stein is not just the god of stone — he is the stone. In the first era, when the planes were young, the shifting ground longed for stillness. From that longing, Stein arose, carving mountains and caverns with his breath.

To the Stone Giants, he is the Pillar of Faith, the Ever-Silent Judge, and Eternal Foundation. They believe their duty is to shape the world in his image — patient, precise, unyielding.

Unlike fiery Ild or rotting Haug, Stein does not seek conquest or decay. His law is order, his realm the Deepstone Bastion in the heart of the Elemental Plane of Earth — an endless labyrinth of caverns, crystal pillars, and slumbering stone titans.

Appearance

  • Stein is a Gargantuan god carved of living stone and crystal, resembling a titanic stone giant carved by divine hands.

  • His body is covered in veins of luminous white and gold crystal, pulsing faintly like the heart of the world.

  • His face is expressionless, carved with ancient runes — timeless, implacable.

  • He wields a massive hammer formed from a single mountain peak, carved with celestial runes.

  • Behind him rise colossal stone monoliths floating slowly in the air, orbiting like planets around a star.

  • As he moves, the earth itself bends, like reality is anchored to his presence.
