Traits

Immutable Form. The Paragon is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

Immunity to Certain Attacks. All Fiends, Undead, and all non-Good-Aligned Characters cannot hit the Aetherial Paragon. Constructs and other Angels ignore this effect.

Aura of Illumination and Dispelling. The Paragon has an active aura out to 120 feet that illuminates the area with bright light and dispels magical darkness, invisibility, and illusions within the area.

Aura of Truth. All creatures within 120 feet of the Paragon cannot willingly speak a lie. A creature must make a DC 26 Charisma saving throw at the start of its turn to attempt to utter a lie, succeeding only on a result of 26 or higher.

Immunity to Imprisonment. The Paragon cannot be sealed away or trapped through non-magical or magical barriers, or even imprisoned, including by the imprisonment spell.

Storyteller's Reality Anchor. The Paragon possesses a Reality Anchor, which prevents them from being wished, banished, or imprisoned by any magical or nonmagical means.

Storyteller's Insight. The Paragon has the ability to bypass damage resistances and immunities.

Actions

Multiattack. The Paragon makes two Greatsword of Judgment attacks.

Greatsword of Judgment. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 31 (4d10 + 9) slashing damage plus 18 (4d8) radiant damage.

Hallowed Sweep (Recharge 5-6). The Paragon sweeps its colossal sword in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 26 Dexterity saving throw, taking 67 (10d10 + 12) slashing damage plus 36 (8d8) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a Fiend or Undead fails the saving throw, it is banished to its plane of origin (if not already there) until the Paragon dies.

Divine Word (3/Day). The Paragon speaks a word of divine power. Each creature of the Paragon's choice within 30 feet of it must make a DC 26 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, a creature suffers a different effect based on its current hit points:

  • 100 HP or less: Deafened for 1 minute.

  • 50 HP or less: Deafened and Stunned for 1 minute.

  • 20 HP or less: Killed instantly.

Regardless of hit points, if a creature is a Fiend or Undead and fails its save, it is also instantly Banished to its plane of origin (if not already there) and cannot return for 1d4 rounds.

Bonus Actions

Storyteller's Narrative Control. The Paragon has the broken ability to disable traits from statblocks, as well as class features, feats, and so on. The Paragon targets one creature it can see within 120 feet. That creature must make a DC 26 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, one of the following features of the Paragon's choice is immediately and permanently disabled for that creature: a racial trait, a class feature, a feat, a legendary action, a lair action, or a similar special ability (such as a monster's damage immunity or resistance). This effect lasts until the Paragon chooses to restore the ability (no action required) or until the Paragon is destroyed. The Paragon cannot disable more than three features simultaneously this way.

Reactions

Perfect Retaliation. When a creature within 15 feet of the Paragon damages it, the Paragon can use its reaction to make one Greatsword of Judgment attack against that creature. If the creature is a Fiend or Undead, the attack deals an extra 27 (6d8) radiant damage.

Legendary Actions

The Paragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Paragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Move. The Paragon moves up to its speed.
  • Sword Lunge. The Paragon makes one Greatsword of Judgment attack.
  • Rewrite Reality (Costs 3 Actions). The Paragon gains access to its Book of Narrative and attempts to change or rewrite one minor aspect of the current combat scenario or environment. This could be to summon a non-hostile creature with a CR of 5 or less, instantly move all creatures within 30 feet up to 10 feet, or change the terrain in a 40-foot radius. The effect is immediate and permanent for the rest of the encounter unless the Paragon uses this legendary action again to change it.

Description

Lore: The Aetherial Paragon in The Angelic Empire

Designation and Rank

The Aetherial Paragon is not merely an Angel; it is a conceptual entity of judgment and cosmic design. Within the Angelic Empire's structure, it would be considered:

  • Rank: A unique celestial entity, arguably beyond the traditional hierarchy of Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones. The Paragon's status as a Storyteller places it just below the ruling Triumvirate (Evelyn Blair, Abaddon, and Ialbadaoth Blair) and directly below the ultimate authority, YHWH.

  • Role in the Arctic: It serves as the ultimate, unchallengeable judicial authority, a direct conduit for YHWH's will concerning the cosmic order of the Dead Lands. The Paragon would be the final executor of the divine mandate, a living manifestation of the purity and order the Empire embodies.

Function and Purpose

The Paragon's primary purpose is to ensure the integrity and permanence of the Empire's divinely-wrought existence in the Arctic.

  • Guardian of Narrative Purity: The Aetherial Paragon's Storyteller traits, specifically its Narrative Control and Reality Anchor, are employed to safeguard the Empire's reality. It prevents any existential threat, or even subtle influence, from altering the narrative of the Arctic as a Bastion of Purity.

    •  Example: If a powerful rogue entity attempted to introduce a fundamental instability or a powerful curse upon the land, the Paragon would use its Rewrite Reality ability to erase or nullify the effect, ensuring the land remains akin to a permanent Hallow spell

  •  Supreme Judge: While Harkiel the Seraphim acts as the Supreme Regional Leader, the Paragon acts as the Supreme Judge for any matter deemed a threat to the fundamental order of the Empire. This includes cases of treachery, corruption, or severe breaches of the Aura of Truth. Only the Paragon's judgment is final, as its insights bypass all deception and its word disables all defenses (Storyteller's Insight).

  • Warden of the Void (Shadow Aspect): The dark coloration and massive blade visible in its form suggest a mastery over the void or the cosmic shadow—not of evil, but of necessary balance. It is the entity that keeps the overwhelming powers of the Dead Lands' scarred reality in check, ensuring that the Empire's victory remains absolute. It is the shadow that defines the light.

Interaction with the Hierarchy

The Paragon's interactions would be highly limited due to its profound power and focus on cosmic stability.

  •  The Triumvirate & YHWH: It receives its mandate directly from YHWH , or via high-level directives from the absent Triumvirate (when they are present).

  •  Harkiel the Seraphim: The Paragon likely only speaks with Harkiel, the current Supreme Regional Leader. Its presence alone would enforce Harkiel's absolute authority. It would advise Harkiel on matters of existential threat or when a judgment of cosmic weight is required.

  •  Proxy Population: The proxy populations—the Glimmering Stars and Sheltered Ones —would rarely, if ever, see the Paragon up close. For them, it is a mythical figure, a silent sentinel who floats high above the clouds, occasionally glimpsed as a massive, dark silhouette against the holy light, a constant, fearsome assurance that the absolute safety and purity of the Empire is maintained. The sight of the Paragon descending toward a settlement would be the surest sign of a threat of apocalyptic magnitude or a monumental judgment.
