Traits

Magic Resistance. The dracolich has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Invulnerability. If the dracolich is slain, his spirit immediately returns to its phylactery, a crystal vial filled with mercury of insignificant size. If there is no reptilian corpse within 90 feet for his spirit to possess, it is trapped within the phylactery until such a time that a corpse becomes available. If his spirit is in its phylactery, destroying that item when a suitable corpse is not within range effectively destroys him. Likewise, the dracolich is unable to attempt further possessions if his phylactery is destroyed.

Spellcasting. The Young Mercury Dracolich is a 1st-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Int (spell save DC 16, +12 to hit with spell attacks). The Young Mercury Dracolich has following spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): Chill Touch, Ray of Frost
1st level 2: Command, Detect Magic

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d10 + 7)piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) necrotic or psychic damage (DMs choice).

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d8 + 7)bludgeoning damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7)slashing damage.

Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dracolich’s choice that is within 120 feet of the dracolich and aware of it must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dracolich’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.

Acid Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dracolich exhales acid in a 40-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 33 (6d10) Psychic damage plus 33 (6d10) Necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Bonus Actions

Mercurial From. the dracolich melts into liquid metal and seeps through a crack 6 inches or bigger, once the dracoliches turn ends, it immediately turns back into its normal form. If the dracolich ends its turn in a space it cannot fit in, it takes 21 (2d10) force damage.

Reactions

Silver Veil. The dracolich halves any cold or radiant damage that it takes, it can do this 2 times per hour.

Description

The gleaming corpse of a once-brilliant mercury dragon, a young mercury dracolich moves like a living reflection — its body rippling and reforming in metallic waves that catch every glimmer of light. Though its scales retain their quicksilver shimmer, the vitality behind them has long since drained away, replaced by an eerie, undead intelligence that hums with necrotic energy.

Once graceful and elusive, this creature now glides through the air in jerky, weightless motions, its wings dripping molten silver that never quite hits the ground. Its eyes shine like twin mirrors, reflecting not what stands before it, but what once was.

Where it passes, the air distorts as if heat shimmered in its wake, and the faint sound of whispering metal echoes in confined spaces. To face one is to fight your own reflection — quick, deceptive, and inexorably patient.

Echo of a Shattered Soul

Unlike most dracoliches, mercury dracoliches do not cling to power for greed or vengeance. Their transformation is almost always an accident — a result of their naturally mutable nature merging with corrupted alchemy or necromantic experimentation. Their phylacteries are small vials of living mercury, pulsing faintly with the echo of their former heartbeat.

Quicksilver Intelligence

Even undeath cannot dull a mercury dragon’s curiosity. A young mercury dracolich retains a fragmented memory of its past brilliance, endlessly experimenting on living subjects and magical materials in an attempt to “stabilize” itself. Many such creatures haunt abandoned laboratories or alchemical ruins, drawn to reflections, mirrors, and pools of still liquid where they can study their shifting form.

Legends say that when a mercury dracolich dies, its body melts entirely into a pool of mirrored metal — and if one looks closely enough into that pool, they might see their own soul staring back.
