Bound to the Wind. The Air Wolf can hover even when motionless, and its paws leave faint ripples of wind instead of footprints. It cannot be knocked prone while airborne.
Wind Step. As a bonus action, the Air Wolf can surge forward up to 20 feet in any direction without provoking opportunity attacks. During this movement, it appears as a blur of whirling mist.
Ride the Gale. When a Small or Tiny creature is mounted on the Air Wolf, both mount and rider gain advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects that target an area (such as fireball or lightning bolt), as the Air Wolf instinctively redirects the air currents.
Pack Tactics. The wolf has Advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the wolf’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally doesn’t have the Incapacitated condition.
Mount Ability: Whirling Leap
If ridden by a Small creature, the Air Wolf can use its movement to leap up to 30 feet into the air and glide safely to the ground. While gliding, it and its rider are considered under the effects of feather fall and can travel up to 60 feet horizontally.
Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) Piercing damage + 4 (1d8) Lightning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it has the Prone condition.
Howl of the Tempest (Recharge 5–6). The Air Wolf unleashes a thunderous howl infused with wind. Each creature of its choice within 15 feet must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet away and knocked prone. Flying creatures instead have their flight disrupted and fall 10 feet.
Description
Personality and Lore
Air Wolves are born in the highest mountain passes where thunderstorms dance among the peaks. They form loyal bonds with halfling sky riders, druids, and storm clerics. Their fur ripples as though in a constant breeze, and their eyes shimmer with pale blue light. A rider must earn an Air Wolf’s trust through courage, calm, and a willingness to leap before looking — for the Air Wolf never fears the fall.
