Traits

Pack Tactics. The Acid Beast has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the beast’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.

Acidic Camouflage. The Acid Beast can meld with damp stone and rubble. It gains advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in underground or ruined environments.

Actions

Multiattack. The Acid Beast makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its Acid Spit.

Acid Spit. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d4+4) acid damage and the target’s armor or outer layer of clothing is corroded, imposing disadvantage on the next attack or saving throw it makes before the end of its next turn.

Description

A gaunt, quadrupedal scourge of the catacombs, the Acid Beast is a sinuous predator whose mottled emerald scales hiss with dripping venom. Jagged spines line its arched back, each pore glistening with corrosive ichor. Low-slung and unnaturally agile, it pads through ruined corridors, seeking broken prey to finish with a savage spray of acid. Those who glimpse its obsidian eyes swear they glint with a malevolent hunger—a dark touch of Baal’s influence.

LORE: Born in the shadowed ossuaries beneath ancient temples, Acid Beasts prowl in packs of 3–8. Rumored to be twisted bloodspawn of a forgotten cult of Baal, they scavenge on the broken and the damned, their presence heralded by the stench of decay and the faint hiss of corroding stone.
