Traits

Odd Nature. Alternate Bliss registers as both Fey and Undead for the purposes of abilities and spells that target those specific creature types. Alternate Bliss does not need to sleep, breathe, or consume food and water to live.

Rejuvenation. Alternate Bliss regains 10 hit points at the start of his turn. If Alternate Bliss takes fire damage, this trait doesn’t function until the start of his next turn. If Alternate Bliss is killed, he regenerates in the Cloister of Slaughter 1d20 days later with all of his hit points. While deceased, a [spell]Wish[/spells] spell can be used to force Alternate Bliss' soul to pass on, preventing his return.

Sorcerous Origins. When casting a spell, Alternate Bliss can use either the Heightened Spell metamagic ability to give a creature disadvantage on their saving throw to resist the spell's effects, or the Quickened Spell metamagic ability to change its casting time from an Action to a Bonus Action. Alternate Bliss can only use each of these metamagic abilities once per short rest.

Sworn Vengeance. Alternate Bliss swears vengeance upon any creatures that manage to kill him. Alternate Bliss knows the distance to and direction of any creature against which he seeks revenge, even if the creature and Alternate Bliss are on different planes of existence. Alternate Bliss resists all damage dealt by a creature he has sworn vengeance against, and is immune to any damage from that creature he is already resistant to. A creature only loses their sworn vengeance if they are killed by Alternate Bliss, or if Alternate Bliss passes on from this realm for good.

Turn Immunity. Alternate Bliss is immune to effects that turn Undead.

Actions

Multiattack. Alternate Bliss makes three claw attacks. Alternate Bliss can replace one of these claw attacks with any spell he can cast at will.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. If the target is a creature against which Alternate Bliss has sworn vengeance, the target takes an extra 14 (4d6) radiant damage. Instead of dealing damage, Alternate Bliss can grapple the target (escape DC 16) provided the target is Large or smaller.

Vengeful Glare. Alternate Bliss targets one creature he can see within 30 feet of himself and against which he has sworn vengeance. The target must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the target is paralyzed until Alternate Bliss deals damage to it, or until the end of Alternate Bliss' next turn. When the paralysis ends, the target is frightened of Alternate Bliss for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if it can see Alternate Bliss, ending the frightened condition on itself on a success.

Death Cannon (Recharge 5–6). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 18, each creature in a 90-foot-long, 5-foot-wide Line. Failure: 49 (11d8) Necrotic damage. Success: Half damage.

Spellcasting. Alternate Bliss casts one of the following spells, using Wisdom as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 18):

At Will: Barkskin, Bless, Cure Wounds, Entangle, Fog Cloud, Lesser Restoration, Spike Growth
3/Day: Animate Dead, Contagion, Dimension Door, Scrying

Bonus Actions

Blighted Shape. Twice per day, Alternate Bliss can transform into a corrupted bestial form, a twisted facsimile of unlife mirroring nature's cruelty. While transformed in this way, Alternate Bliss' AC increases to a 16, and his movement speed, Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores are replaced with the creatures, but all of his other statistics remain the same. Alternate Bliss loses his Claw action while in this form, instead replacing it with any actions the creature he is transformed into would normally possess. Alternate Bliss gains 45 temporary hit points while transformed in this way, reverting to his original form when all temporary hit points gained from this transformation are removed. Alternate Bliss can transform into the following creatures using this ability.

While transformed into any of these creatures, Alternate Bliss can still cast spells.

Reactions

Malevolent Barbs. Alternate Bliss casts Silvery Barbs in response to the spell’s trigger. Instead of providing a creature with advantage on their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, Alternate Bliss can instead give a creature he can see within 60 feet disadvantage on their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Action Uses: 3. Immediately after another creature’s turn, Alternate Bliss can expend a use to take one of the following actions. Alternate Bliss regains all expended uses at the start of each of his turns.

Battle Caster. Alternate Bliss casts one spell he can cast at will.

Vengeful Glare. Alternate Bliss attempts to use his Vengeful Glare action against a creature upon which he has sworn vengeance.

Forced Refresh (Costs 2 Actions). Alternate Bliss attempts to immediately recharge his Death Cannon.

Habitat: Any
