Description
Orcs are burly raiders with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks. They gather in tribes that satisfy their bloodlust by slaying any humanoids that stand against them.
Abyssal Orcs are the twisted descendants of mortal orcs whose tribes were consumed generations ago by the abyssal demon lord Zortalis, Consumer of Shadows. Their bodies are bulkier, their skin marked by dark lesions like burnt sigils, and their eyes glow with an eerie ember-red light. Abyssal energy coils inside them, hardening their flesh and granting them a natural resistance to spells. To outsiders they appear like orcs who have simply embraced a darker power — but the truth is far more sinister.
Most Abyssal Orcs lack true free will. Their minds exist in a layered hierarchy, each lower-ranking orc unknowingly carrying a subconscious tether to a stronger Abyssal Orc above them, and so on until the chain reaches Zortalis himself. They believe they choose their battles, their hunts, and their victories… yet every impulse is nudged by abyssal whispers threading through their thoughts. Only the highest-ranking warlords have a sliver of autonomy, and those few live in constant fear that Zortalis may tighten his grip. Instead of Gruumsh, the Abyssal Orcs worship the Consumer of Shadows as their sole master — for he is not simply their god, but the architect of their very will.
