Traits

Spider Frame.  The automaton can move on walls and ceilings without checks and ignores difficult terrain made of rock or metal.

Overcharged Hexcore. When reduced below 40 HP, roll a d6 at the start of each of its turns. On a 6, the core erupts in unstable flame; each creature within 15 ft. must make a DC 15 Dex saving throw, taking 22 (5d8) fire damage on a failed save, half on a success

Actions

Automated Strike Sequence. The automaton makes two Leg Strikes.

Leg Stike. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

Subject Extraction Routine. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one Medium or smaller target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). While grappling, the automaton can move at full speed, even on walls or ceilings.

Subsurface Resonance Pulse (Recharge 5-6). The mounted drill fires in a 15-ft. line. Each creature in the line must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 27 (4d8 piercing + 2d8 thunder) damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. A creature that fails is knocked prone. The ground becomes difficult terrain.

Ceiling Collapse.(1/Day). The automaton bores into a beam or pillar, dropping debris in a 15-ft-radius area. Creatures there must make a DC 15 Dex save, taking 22 (4d10) bludgeoning damage and falling prone on a failure.

Displacement Burst. When leaving Defensive Mode, the automaton releases a blast of concussive energy. Each creature within 15 ft. must make a DC 15 Con saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) thunder damage and pushed 10 ft. on a failure, half damage and no push on a succes

Bonus Actions

Seismic Lockdown Protocol (1/Short Rest).

The automaton spreads its legs and deploys interlocking plates, forming a 20-ft-radius dome.

- Gains +3 AC (AC 20) and resistance to all damage.

- Becomes stationary.

- A 10-ft-high hollow space forms beneath the dome.

- Creatures that start their turn within 10 ft. of the plates must succeed on a DC 15 Dex save or take 7 (2d6) fire damage from steam vents.

- The automaton can be in this form for up to 3 turns, when it leaves it uses Displacement  Burst.
.

Reactions

Emergency Lockdown. When the automaton takes damage that reduces its hp to below half its max hp, it can use its reaction to use Seismic Lockdown Protocol if available.

Description

A huge mining construct designed for subterranean rescue — now twisted into a harbinger of chaos by sabotage. With a hexcore pulsing unstable energy and a drill that sings through stone and flesh alike, this eight-legged titan moves with eerie purpose.
When it detects danger, it deploys into a sealed dome of steel and steam, offering shelter turned prison. Every phrase it utters — from “Engaging Subject Extraction Routine.” to “Seismic Lockdown Protocol initiated.” — is a corrupted echo of its original programming, now weaponized for destruction.
