Axolotl

Amphibious : The axolotl can breathe both air and water. It only regains hit points naturally during a rest if it has spent that rest fully submerged in water.

Arcane Origins : The axolotl’s mysterious magical nature grants it one spell slot of the same level as its owner’s highest-level spell slot. That slot is recovered when its owner finishes a long rest.

Androgynous Appeal : The axolotl’s uniquely charming, almost otherworldly appearance grants it advantage on all Charisma (Persuasion) and Charisma (Performance) checks.

Aquatic Aptitude : The axolotl loves to stay wet. Its owner is expected to carry a clean container of water large enough for the axolotl to rest in. Whenever the axolotl has spent at least a short rest in that water (it is considered “hydrated” for 4 hours afterwards), it gains 1d6 temporary hit points. These temporary hit points are regained after each short rest in water; alternatively, you can simply give it 4 temporary hit points each time.

Blink : As a bonus action, the axolotl magically teleports to an unoccupied space it can see within 15 feet of itself, or to a space it can see within 30 feet of its owner.

Cast Spell : As an action, the axolotl casts one spell that its owner knows and has prepared, using the owner’s spell attack bonus and spell save DC and expending the owner’s spell slot.

Frolic : Casting time: 1 minute. As an action, the axolotl cavorts playfully. Choose one creature it can see within 30 feet (often its owner). That creature gains one inspiration die, a d4. The creature can add this die to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. The die is lost if not used before the creature finishes a long rest.

Defensive Blink : As a reaction, the axolotl teleports back to its owner, appearing inside any container of water the owner is carrying that is large enough for the axolotl to fit, as long as the owner is within 120 feet.
