Traits

A large creature with a shape-shifting shell and skeletal limbs. The shell encloses a horrifying spectral organism. 

Actions

Multiattack. The Vohlee makes two Claw Slash attacks and uses Unsettling Visage if available.

Claw Slash. Melee Attack Roll: +6 (with Advantage during the first round of each combat), reach 5 ft. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) Bludgeoning damage.

Read Thoughts. The Vohlee casts Detect Thoughts, requiring no spell components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 13).

Unsettling Visage (Recharge 6). Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 12, each creature in a 15-foot Emanation originating from the Vohlee that can see the Vohlee. Failure: The target has the Frightened condition and repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. After 1 minute, it succeeds automatically.

Howl: Melee Attack Roll: +1 (with Advantage during the first round of each combat), reach 15 ft cone emanation. Hit: 11 (2d6) Psychic damage

Bonus Actions

Shape-Shift shell. The Vohlee shape-shifts its shell into a visage of a face that belongs to another individual, one that the individual knows, or it returns to its true form. Its game statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed.

Reactions

Shell of Dead: As a reaction, when hit with slashing or bludgeoning damage, the attacker must make a Wisdom save (DC 12). Failure: he attacker takes 1d6 psychic damage.

Description

The Vohlee used to be adventurers who sought forbidden knowledge and fell under an unknown curse. They now roam the lands looking for unsuspecting victims. Some believed they were punished by the gods. They use their shape-shifting shell to terrify their foes to consume their soul.
