Description
Of all 101 of the Precursor species known as the Altin, Ur-Sathaene was the most ambitious. His drive to achieve and discover was unparalleled in his siblings. Ur-Sathaene was the first Altin created by Evo. He established many of the Combines that the Altin lived in before they traveled over Terron. He was, in some records and myths, the first politician, creating the Altic Society that has been lost to history since then.
When Jengrillen posed The Question to the Constructs of Cogmarum and accidentally concocted the Logic Plague, the Supari were enraged. As punishment, Jengrillen was banished from Terron and prevented from entering back into our reality. When the other Altin found out about Jengrillen's banishment, many were particularly incensed, chief among these Ur-Sathaene, Gorgorex, Cyrilieth Fyreju and Volkash, Chus-Thrith, Ravenalt, and Megalopsei. These main Altin, along with quite a few others of less noting, and their forces, stood in opposition to the Supari.
After the conflict ended, and the Supari emerged as the victors, they decided to impose specific punishments on each of the major players in the opposition to prevent any future difficulties, and to send a message. Ur-Sathaene, the leader of the rebellion, was punished most harshly. His consort, Herron, was publicly executed in front of him. Then, he was imprisoned within the Great Aeturnic Coil, and sunk deep below the ocean. He came to rest at the bottom of the deepest darkest place in the sea, the Neaonic Trench. There, deep in the ocean, Ur-Sathaene came into contact with the largest natural Terronic deposit of Murk. Drawn to the rapid exchange of energy, the Murk infested him, corrupting him and filling his head with thoughts of revenge and genocide, and gradually driving him insane. Because of his natural strength and the power he had amassed before the conflict, he was able to partially withstand the corrupting influence of the Murk and instead somewhat use it to fuel his already incredible strength. Although still trapped within the Aeturnic Coil, the corrosive nature of the Murk ensured that Ur-Sathaene would eventually be free of his bonds, even if it took a millennium. He could wait.
Lair and Lair Actions
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Ur-Sathaene takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Ur-Sathaene can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Ur-Sathaene wills the Primordial Murk to seep through the ground in a 20 foot circular area around a point of focus he can see within 50 feet. This area becomes difficult terrain, and imposes disadvantage on all other's melee attacks made from within.
- Ur-Sathaene slams his sword into the ground, causing the whole temple to shake. From somewhere back in the temple proper, you hear the sound of water starting to flow.
