Description

Long ago, these generally docile creatures roamed the expanse known as the fey wild. They were a wonder to behold as the earth beneath their feet bowed to their very whim. These gentle giants appear to be ancient forms of anteater and camels. Their snouts are long and trunk like, covered in fur, with long slender legs that store excess water for long journeys. Their main water supply is from drinking in the clouds above which is how they recieved the name "Cloud Drinker". Its tongue is housed within the snout and can reach upwards of 40 feet in length. They stand about 40 foot tall with a total length being 138 feet, which includes body with snout (82 feet) and tail (56 feet). These majestic creatures are beautifully colored with many shades of greens and browns with sometimes snowcapped tops. A herd of Arbu are called a Range, as in mountain range. Slowly these creatures were introduced to Toril through trade and happenstance portals and now they have become iconic for travelers to cross the giant plains. Arbu only attack when threatened but are formidable foes when necessary.

Symbiotic relationships are necessary for Arbu since they have an unwanted side effect of being earth casters and partly made of earth, seedlings and pollen fly through the air and sometimes land on top of Arbu. This plant life is a bane upon Arbu because their limbs cannot reach to remove or prune them, humanoids are allowed travel to destinations as long as they help prune the plant life embedded on the Arbu's back. If not pruned or removed, the root systems end up attaching and attacking the nervous system of Arbu and they begin to die.

Arbu do not know how long they live for, the only ones to have died, die from battle, abuse or plant life's parasitic effect. Most are over 800 years to a millennia old.
